Chuck has been employing callbacks to earlier episodes since season 4, much to our delight, but the two-episode finale was especially packed with references to the previous seasons. Here’s a list of what we noticed:

Swedak says its up to us to think what happened! my opinion is that she gradualy remembers and they live happily ever after 🙂
Based on what we see in the episodes – it’s clear her memories are slowly coming back.
I give kudos to the writers for their courage not to spoon feed us every single step of Sarah’s recovery. They gave just enough for me to be assured that her memories are in process of returning, and what’s more, because she asked for the kiss, she wants them to. All will be well.
I loved all the references to the first season! I’m so glad I went back earlier this week and watched it all….it made tonight that much better. Two spectacular episodes! I sorta wish Gertrude could have been seen rather than just referenced, but I digress. Oh and the last image was great but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I expected the “house with the picket fence”.
I’m proud to say that I have been a fan since the pilot, but even more so, that I was a part of a fan base the birthed a special show. A show that you can say is historic in it’s survival! We did that Chucksters! We did! With help from Mel, Liz, and Gray….can’t forget them!

I noticed Sarah fighting away the guards in the intersect room was almost exactly Bryce’s fight sequence in the pilot.
I noticed that too!!! It was such a wonderful finale to such a wonderful show! I love CHUCK so much, and it kills me to know that it is over. It was really good, but I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting that ending. I was sort of hoping on something more definite, but I love it all the same! 🙂

I have to say the beach scene. The pilot is where chuck and sarah started their relationsip now they’re back there again to build their relationship once more.
The reference of Morgan directing Chuck’s romantic mission would be back to Chuck vs. The Balcony, no?
That’s what I was thinking. In Frosted Tips, Morgan was a douche, he wouldn’t have directed a romantic sub-mission. It was Balcony where Chuck tried to propose to Sarah and Morgan directed the sub-mission.
Did it remind anyone else of “The Notebook”? maybe even a little?

This is open to your interpretation. While it may have been nice to get a definite closure, I feel that this ways allows for everyone to have their perfect ending, because they alone can decide what comes next.

I really liked the Subway reference at the end. It was a good way to get a flashback on how the show managed to get to 5 seasons.

I am hart broken, I feel terrrible everyone got a great send off but chuck. even his mom wa s busy iwth elli and Awsome. the hero got the short end again. they could have at least let Sara have some sort of major flash back or wanting to get back her life.

Mine was probably the DARPA scene. I was like, “no. friggin. way. OMG.” I can’t believe it’s over. My eyes still sting from the crying.
What about Casey visiting to give her information (the DVD of Project Bartowski). This was a callback to American hero when he visited to tell her that he shot the mole not Chuck.

When they’re in the facility, the moves Sarah uses to get onto the other side of the door to let Chuck and co in are the moves Bryce used to escape after he stole the Intersect in the pilot. It was even shot similarly :]
Also, I could be going crazy (need to rewatch it, lol) but was the agent who first noticed the gas the undercover student who saves Chuck in Alma Mater?

Before the beach scene Sarah walks out of castle basically says goodbye, good luck in the future Chuck. Isn’t this a callback to the end of the show (I can’t remember the namewhere they say goodbye and he leaves for Hannah and she gets a crockpot for Shaw

The blown-up Intersect room with Casey, Morgan and Chuck was very similar to the Casey, Graham and the original Beckman woman scene in the pilot.
Quinn’s, er, colorful description of Chuck was the same word Emmett used to describe the Ring agent in Pink Slip. Not too much of a stretch to call it a callback, maybe?
I can’t believe it’s over… This show was literally so amazing… The finale was perfect… I don’t know what I’m gonna do now. Zachary, Yvonne, Adam, Josh you guys are the best.. The best ending to the most perfect show I have ever seen. Chuck and Sarah forever!
Not so much a callback, but more of a shoutout to Zach’s role in Tangled…Morgan says he’s been watching Disney princess movies where a kiss solves everything…Zach was the voice for the “prince” character in Tangled.

I think it should be “Final Exam”.
I know you have the Chuck/Morgan fountain scene, but more specifically, there’s when Morgan reminds Chuck that he told him to go with his heart because their brains only screw things up.
More changes/additions:
– Sarah going in and out of the window (the “Morgan door,” though just about every character has used it at some point).
– Casey killed someone for Chuck in the Final Exam.
– Chuck and Casey hugged in the Ring.
– There were Weinerlicious fights in the Helicopter and the Marlin.
– Jeffster! also had an inappropriate performance in the Push Mix.
– Chuck rolling over in bed and remembering that Sarah’s gone, and Morgan being there to comfort him when he wakes up is similar to the Anniversary.
– Sarah almost killing Morgan after he sneaks up on her is from the First Fight.
– Morgan telling Sarah that he used to be Chuck’s closest friend but is alright with her taking over is similar to when he gave her permission to marry Chuck in the Balcony.
– Sarah cut meat while angry in the Cougars.
i am not sure if anyone thought of this yet. but it really occured to me when ellie said, ‘those emotions cause sparks’.
in my opinion sarah did remember at the very end, because the intersect has always been faulty when it comes to emotion. in the episode where chuck tries to unlock the intersect from being suppressed in season 4, he tries to use fear to lift it, and it looked like he got pretty close.
Love, which I would say is hands down the strongest emotion, will easily lift the suppressed memories that sarah had.
my two cents worth. the only question i have, is did chuck suppress the intersect he downloaded. im guessing itll be in those extra 8 minutes. i kinda would like to think he kept it
i really enjoyed it, it brought a lot of emotion. i like beckman’s hint to coming back. sounds like they left it open for a very slim possibility of a movie! 🙂

“Sarah & Quinn on the plane – First Class” was probably more “First Fight” than “First Class”
How about “Casey arresting his old team”, like in “Vs the Colonel”?
After watching the pilot last night I am pretty sure sarahs nightwear/pyjamas or whatever word floats your boat, are the same ones in the pilot where she is looking at photos on her phone of bryce.
How about Sarah almost choking Morgan as in First Fight and Chuck and Sarah talking through a wall as in Pink Slip? 😀
I think she remembered, because while Chuck started to kiss, there was a little pause and Sarah started to kiss back (and for the second time). Because of that I asume that she remebered and they will continue their lives as before… however, that’s what I’m really hoping!

I think that she remembered, because while they were on the beach and Chuck started to kiss there was a tiny pause between the first and second kiss, Chuck started while Sarah was taking over by starting the second kiss. During that kiss broke all the love loose. That gives me the reason to think that Sarah remebered and that Charah will live their lives together, just as before. However, thats what I’m hoping, just to forget that this great show has ended to soon.

When Chuck and Sarah are talking through the walls in Castle, callback from Pink Slip maybe?
I digged the finale, not only because it had so many callbacks, but also because, from my view, they left the ending open to the fans.
We’ve traveled with these characters all through to the ending. It’s not our right to force a specific ending onto people that would’ve hoped for a different ending, therefore they left it open, and it worked.
I’ve already written and declared my love to this show in a previous post but if I wished for something to do differently is bring even more “flashbacks” back, making 5.13 last for 80 minutes and bring back Chuck and Sarah’s hairstlyes from the Pilot episode. Just more time… I felt kind of “cut short”.
Chuck, I’m gonna miss you and I’ve just really realised that yesterday. 🙁
I can’t even rewatch the whole show because I’ve exams coming up so I have to wait till March 🙁 . And then:
“Oh, he’s free. He’s got nothing but time on his hands.” 😉
When Chuck is holding the desert eagle at Quin in the weinerliocious vest, I couldnt help but think that looked like vs the Other Guy, just my thoughts.
Even when Chuck is chasing after Quinn as he escapes from the Wienerlicious, he holds a ‘real’ gun up and shouts ‘STOP’ like he did when he was rescuing Sarah from Shaw in Chuck vs. The Other Guy.
What about bryce???

Maybe this isn’t so much a callback, but in Chuck Vs. Sarah when everyone is standing around in the destroyed Intersect room, does it count as a callback to the Pilot? The scene where Casey got his assignment.
It’s a call back to when Bryce broke into the white room, stole the Intersect, and blew it up. Sarah used the same moves to escape, and the same bomb on the door.
