**Congrats to Sidney C, winner of this week’s giveaway!**
It’s week four of Chuck Me Mondays, and we have another giveaway for you at the end of this post! Often cited as one of the best season 1 episodes of Chuck, “Chuck vs. the Wookie” gives us a glimpse into Sarah’s past when her old pal Carina shows up looking for assistance on her latest mission. Poor Chuck, tasked to help two gorgeous women on a secret spy mission. Is he in over his head? Speaking of in over his head, the episode begins with a cozy couples’ game night at the Bartowski apartment (plus, you know, Morgan) as Chuck and Sarah’s cover relationship deepens. Here’s the official synopsis:
DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL’S BEST FRIEND-Chuck (Zachary Levi) faces an unusual task, when Sarah’s (Yvonne Strahovski) hot colleague from the CIA shows up requesting help for a mission. Morgan (Joshua Gomez) tries to get Chuck to set him up with Sarah’s new friend. When Chuck finds out that a million dollar diamond hidden in a Malibu mansion is being used to help fund terrorists, he must help these two beautiful women steal it back. Chuck is finding out that Sarah’s job of living a double life, which she is all too good at, is really preventing him from getting to know who she really is.

@Mike B- Yes, Casey makes the comment that smoking is bad for your health, but in Chuck vs. The Ring, he is smoking when he is playing poker in the Castle. I think that’s hilarious.
@Agent86- Wow! I never noticed about Sarah’s middle name written on the back of Chuck’s Tron poster. Thanks for pointing that out. Good catch.
My favorite part of this episode is the moment between Chuck and Sarah at the end. This is when we begin to see their relationship develop into something more than just a cover relationship.
Also, if anyone knows what Karina and Sarah are saying to each other, please post. All I know is Karina is speaking Swedish and Sarah responds in Polish. I know the Season 1 DVD doesn’t tell you.
I did my voting for Tater Tops: Best Chemistry. Here is what it is currently at:
Which TV couple has the best chemistry?
40.9% Brennan & Booth, Bones
28.3% Chuck & Sarah, Chuck
13.6% Chuck & Blair, Gossip Girl
6.0% Barney & Robin, How I Met Your Mother
11.2% Pam & Jim, The Office
Another funny line in this episode is when Karina says, “This place is like if a yawn could yawn.” Great writing.
“Pull the four leaf clovers out of the rotation”…lol
I thought Yvonne’s portrayal of a ditzy/flirty valley girl was really funny. You don’t get to see her out of the Sarah character very often in the series and I had forgotten about that scene 🙂
I too, love the opening scene with the gang playing that game. I think it is interesting though, that this is the only episode that Sarah mentions anything about having a sister AND it is the same episode with Karina in it. Perhaps they are sisters or step-sisters??
@Gord…haha, I noticed too, how Morgan moves his head in time with the penguins, that is something that is sooooo Morgan.
He he he… I love the penguin movie, I mean how random? Of all the movies they choose penguins. Lol. I also love the embarrassing moment in Casey’s past (Prague)– and how it manages to come up in every conversation involving Karina.
Lol, love the opening scene with the game and with Morgan talking about reciting Chuck’s ice-cream preference in descending order. Gotta love Morgan 😀
Watched this episode from about 30,000 ft. in the air.
The best scene is when Sarah walks in on Casey at Karina’s hotel room and proceeds to take a picture with her camera.
Best line: Casey saying “Studies indicate that smoking can be hazardous to your health. Pick up a newspaper…from the 60s.”
I just thought of the episode with Bryce where Sara doesn’t “take the shot.”
What is if situations were reverased again and Sara was held hostage, Chuck flashes on guns, and he takes the shot. He probably would only wound the enemy agent, but Sara would love him all the more. It would be good for their real clandestine romance if some of us Chukaholics have our way. Let Cassey do another pricelss aaauugghh again. I hope there will be some spoilers coming up as to keep us more engagded in Chuck. This is hard waitiing till March 2010 for more Chuck. Anyone else like to give us their ideas as to a good subplot. Love speculation about Chuck and Sara.
Congrats, Sidney C!
Oh no. The margin is getting bigger in the poll:

I’m swedish and Karina says “Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dom dÃ¥?”… which basically means “If I throw you the keys, will you lose them?”.
I noticed it was swedish like the second or third time watching the episode. Had not been paying too much attention to it before, and what she’s saying doesn’t make much sense either, but i’ts quite funny tho! 😉
Could perhaps be an “old codephrase” between them both or something. Not gonna dig any deeper into that.
I’m afraid I have no clue what Sarah says tho.
According to
http://www.tv.com/Chuck/Chuck+Versus+the+Wookiee/episode/1139465/trivia.html
This is what they said
The sentence Carina speaks in a foreign language is “Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dem dÃ¥?” which is Swedish for “If I throw you the keys, will you drop them?”
Sarah answered in Polish: “Tylko jak rzucisz jak twoja mamusia”, which means “Only if you throw it like your mommy”
@AnotherChuckFan and @TheX – Thanks to you both for posting.
Current data for Tater Tops 2009: Best Chemistry
Which TV couple has the best chemistry?
41.9% Brennan & Booth, Bones
29.7% Chuck & Sarah, Chuck
12.4% Chuck & Blair, Gossip Girl
5.5% Barney & Robin, How I Met Your Mother
10.5% Pam & Jim, The Office
chuck v. the wookie is the first episode where we start seeing Yvonne’s versatile acting chops. My middle name is Lisa. Power and vulnerability. It’s the beginning of working Sarah’s range and makes her feelings for Chuck that much more believable.
Four episodes in, the making of something special starts to happen.
