Ausiello posted the photo below, our first look at Chuck episode 3.04, titled “Chuck vs. Operation Awesome,” with guest star Angie Harmon. Harmon plays Sydney, a Ring operative tasked with taking down Awesome. So why is Shaw (Brandon Routh) the one laying flat out on the floor? And what is Sydney handing to Awesome? Also, is that Chuck in the delivery uniform with Shaw in the photo inset? So many questions!
We’ve seen clips from this episode in the promos, it’s the one where Chuck’s with Awesome and tranq’s the 3 guys.
Perhaps we initially meet Shaw working a cover job to infiltrate the Ring, and that puts him in contact with Angie Harmon’s character. Chuck could tranq Shaw at some point during the mission not knowing who he is, and his true identify is revealed to us later in the episode. Either that, or Shaw is the one who relays the tip about Angie Harmon’s character to Team B via Beckman, and Chuck tranq’s him.
What theories does everyone else have?
Well I wouldn’t say I have a theory about this pic I guess it’s more of an observation:
A – The inserted pic has the same backroud as the big pic so I believe it’s the same office.
B – I think I remember from the clips that Chuck does not wear a white shirt with that Crystal Towers(?) jacket.
C Apparently Shaw does and in both pics its rolled up the same way (minus the tye).
D – The on the round lying person (Shaw I guess) seams to be PhotoShop-ed into the big pic … I mean Angie Harmon’s hand is the size of his head which just looks funny.

Yeah I agree. The person lying down is photoshopped in. I think it might be Shaw because the sleeves are rolled up and in the round picture I can’t see a cuff on Shaw’s right wrist. I believe this may a side shot of one of the promos where Angie Harmon is talking to someone a the CIA office but you just see a partial over the should shot of who she is speaking with. That person was wearing blue.
What I can’t figure out is why Angie seems to be giving Capt Awesome a gun. Maybe at this point she is trying to infiltrate Team Bartowski. They think that she is a Govt Agent and Shaw is Ring at this point in the show. At first I thought that Shaw was dressed as part of the nerd herd. I wonder if he will be undercover at the Buy More for a while. Mild mannered nerd herd employee by day, super agent by night. His disguise would be complete with a pair of glasses. Why nobody would ever recognize him when he takes his glasses off. I wonder if there is a phone booth at the Buy More where he can change into a super spy.

It looks like she has a gun in her hand, look closely at her and devon’s hands
In the big picture Devon is pointing a gun and trying to get Sydney’s gun. While on the small picture Shaw was trying to tell Chuck that he is not an enemy and the picture of Shaw lying on floor is the one that Chuck already tranq’s Shaw because Chuck doesn’t trust Shaw at any point.
Does anyone know if this is the first Brandon Routh episode? And how long is his character arc?
Yeah it is. Shaw appears in this ep first and goes on to be in seven more eps. A total of eight all together.
