The ratings are in for Chuck episode 3.03, “Chuck vs. the Angel de la Muerte”, and it’s more good news! The fast overnights show that Chuck garnered approximately 7.3 million viewers and a 2.6 in the 18-49 demo. Up against strong competition from the likes of House and How I Met Your Mother, Chuck dropped just 10% from Sunday’s excellent premiere and landed its best Monday night numbers since the 3D episode aired on February 2, 2009. We’re off to a terrific start!

To save the show for another season, it must be better than Heroes was drawing at 8:00 in the fall. FYI, Heroes only got a 2.1 at 9:00 last night, losing 20% of it’s Chuck audience.
But, if it’s going to gain some more steam, I would love to see it catch The Batchelor. I’m not asking Chuck to beat House or HIMYM. Beating what is already the cheesiest Bachelor should not be hard.
With the clliihanger, we oughta maintain the 2.6 for next week, maybe even do a little better.

According to this website chuck did a couple of points better than it did Sunday night.
Sorry cut and pasted the wrong link.

Loved it! Monday was awesome!!! The only thing I was disappointed of was the fact that NBC decided to put the ‘spoiler’ trailer up for next week. I thought Awesome was either kidnapped or dead and this trailer ruined it. Never the less, that was an Awesome ending, no pun intended 🙂
3.03’s viewers success is to be measured through the ratings of the next episode – 3.04 – only then we can see how many viewers left. And now we know – more than 600,000 (from 7.3 mln to 6.66 mln) left although the decrease in the demo is not that scary so far.
3.03 was probably the most contrived and weak episode of the entire series.
The plot looks like a children comics story from the 1950s that has almost nothing to do with plausibility and reality, whether it is the totally contrived spy plot, Ellie’s sophomoric infatuation with a reception given by an obnoxious and not that hygienic dictator, the surgical operation, whatnot …
Take for example the scene where the Ring chemical ‘assassin’ gets to “poison’ A. Assante with the cigar. His main goal is to kill the guy. And instead of making sure the dictator is dead, injecting him with another substance or openly killing him with a bullet and putting the weapon in Casey’s hand after killing Casey himself, the ‘assassin’ leaves his target with some ‘arythmia’ and prefers to indulge himself into a sweet-nothings session with John Casey. Seriously? This is by far the lamest assassine in history.
Two more episodes like that and the hard core fans will have to eat tons of subway sandwiches to save the show.
The other three episodes were ok with 3.02 being a masterpiece IMO, but the people behind the show should be very careful not to screw up.
You might want to go look at typical viewership fluctuations before calling a minor dip in overall viewers a death knell for the show.
No, no death knell, what I said was two more episodes that are too contrived and they are back where they were last year.
Let’s hope it is indeed just fluctuation, and not what I suspect. After all, then next episode, 3.04 was pretty good overall.
3 more episodes are ahead of us before the Olympic games so we’ll have a clear cut pattern of how it goes.
