Yvonne’s New Film ‘Matching Jack’ Premieres in August

Yvonne Strahovski filmed two movies in Australia after Chuck season 2 wrapped, and we have news on both of them. Moviehole reports that Matching Jack, a drama about a family tragedy that reveals secrets, will premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival (July 22 – August 8) ahead of a national release on September 30 by Twentieth Century Fox.

Yvonne stars as Veronica, the mistress with whom David (Richard Roxburgh) is enjoying an idyllic life when his wife finds out that their son is terminally ill. Says Yvonne, “I love dramas, I am drawn to tragic stories, and this [really] encompasses tragedy. It is always fun playing the other woman and trying to make her likable.”

Moviehole also has a set visit report for Yvonne’s other film, I Love You Too, coming to Australian movie screens on May 6. Here’s an excerpt of the report with writer/star Peter Helliar talking about Yvonne’s participation in the film.

“I usually keep my ear to the ground when it comes to new TV shows, but Chuck had escaped me – I hadn’t heard of it, thus I didn’t know Yvonne. When I saw her photo I didn’t think she was right anyway – she was hot, sure, but I didn’t think she was right for this, not based on her look and age.

“You see, I always envisioned the film being about people in their thirties – because that’s the age when you really have to decide whether you’re going to grow up or not”, the 35-year-old says. “Yvonne was in her early twenties at that stage, and I didn’t think the film would work as well with someone in her twenties. But then I started to watch her in Chuck, and I realized that she has sort of like an ‘older personality’ – and that she could play older. I immediately went ‘Yeah, that’s her!’.”

It’s going to be an exciting summer for Yvonne fans, at least in Australia!
