A fourth season of Chuck has not been officially announced, but a usually reliable site reveals that their usually reliable sources are telling them it’s a done deal. TV By The Numbers tossed their hat in the ring with Ausiello today, going on the record that their sources say NBC will pickup Chuck for 13 episodes with an option for the back 9. The sources also report that Chuck will return this fall – likely along with JJ Abrams news show, Undercovers – rather than midseason as had been predicted just a couple of weeks ago.
Again, this is NOT an official renewal confirmation, but it’s certainly good buzz. In related news, due to a scheduling conflict, NBC will be announcing their Fall 2010 schedule on Sunday, May 16 instead of Monday, May 17 as originally planned. Keep an eye on ChuckTV.net Sunday afternoon for the official word on season four!
Are you guys going to plan a big “Flash Mob’ish” PARTY if/when we hear the official news about Chuck Season 4? Some way to celebrate all the hard work – and good fortune for all the Chuck Fans…
I really hope it’s a full 22!
#Chuck was awesome, I CAN’T WAIT FOR 3.17 @BC needs to renew it! Here’s a little dedication to Walkertowski from 1.01 to 3.14 http://bit.ly/aA6z8e
That is a great news even though it is a rumor.
Keeping our fingers crossed!!!
Twitter fans Have really worked hard to get S4 for Chuck. Great Job All For Fighting so hard to save our Favorite Nerd Herd. Everyones done a great Job!
Now lets hear the official news concerning Chuck.
I read a comment following that article from someone who I suspect is a Ring operative, since they asked NBC to make the announcement now so the Chuck fans would stop their activities supporting a S4 renewal. I’m pretty sure the person used slightly different words than that, but that was the idea. 😉
Anyway, I propose that we don’t stop, keep it up all summer, Footlongs, flash mobs, re-viewing get-togethers, any new ideas that anybody comes up with, and make our presence felt just as much on the Internet. Because of course the need to increase viewership (especially U.S./Nielsen viewers) never goes away.
And it would be, you know, fun! 🙂
Holding my breath until Sunday’s “official” announcement, but this sounds AWESOME!
…On pins & needles until Sunday. If CHUCK is renewed, we’re havin’ a party 🙂 ! Prayers, positive thoughts, fingers crossed….
This is very positive news, but I’m holding back my enthusiasm until I hear definitive, rock-solid confirmation that it is a done deal.
I hope the rumors pan out. However, the realist in me says, if we get picked up, it will likely be for a final season unless the numbers pick up dramatically. That being said, I have no problems with that if we get 22 and good closure from Schwartz, Fedak et al. knowing this is it.
Roger that! Four seasons would be enough to have told the story, but S&F are NOTR famous for endings with closure. If they know this is it, they owe all of us who’ve worked so hard a happy ending.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember Schwartz or Fedak saying at some point that the overall story they’ve had in mind could take five seasons to tell. Can anyone remember them saying that, or did I just imagine it (wouldn’t be the first time, lol).
I recall others saying that they recall having heard someone say that they heard him say that. I wish I knew the ultimate source!
Ahhh! I sure won’t be sleeping until Sunday! (or, Monday morning for me…). I hope we get a full season pick up. Although, I doubt it tbh.
They could conceivably get a 13 episode pickup at first, and then get the back 9 later on.
Think where we were last year at this time! There was no buzz at all happening. The information leaking out is all positive this year, so we can breathe a little easier. I like that we may get a fall season as it does leave room for the back 9. I think we need to throw a party on Sunday!
Now we have a new mission: Enjoy S4 and keep spreading the word.
YAY!!!! Viva la Chuck 🙂 Hoping it’s true.
I would think the fans that abrams might bring as well as the natural ‘chuck’ audience could join up and make a pretty solid block to compete – I would definitely watch undercovers at 8 – right now I switch to ’24’ after chuck
I’d love for NBC to commit to a Fall 2010 air date, so they could do Halloween, Christmas and Valentines episodes. Season 3’s debut date was never certain while they were in production so they couldn’t do it like they did in seasons 1 & 2. I missed that.
WHOO HOO!!! While I am thrilled that Chuck is on the verge of renewal, I’m wondering if this is something that I would have to stress about for a S5 renewal. I also am reading many posts of so called “fans” that want this season to be the last. This is absolutely ridiculous….I hope Chuck will be around for many more seasons to come.
Crossing my fingers but given that the fans would likely stage some sort of promotion campaign (e.g., Chuck Me Mondays, Chuckfest, Flash Mob, Subway) to promote the show if NBC delayed a renewal announcement, if I was part of TPTB at NBC, I think I’d delay the announcement for the free advertising and promotion provided by the fans. It’s good business.
OMG! Please be true that CHUCK has been renewed. *happy dance*
Excellent news from a trusted and reliable source. As far as it being the final season, not so sure as this show keeps pulling it out every season whether it be from writer’s strike, presidential addresses, etc… I suspect if the Abrams show is a hit, it may just bump Chuck’s #’s enough to keep the slow and steady performer on air. It’s certainly a much better pairing than Heroes or Law and Order.
I like this scenario. Four would be enough to tell the story, but five would be better!
Man, that would be freaking awesome because the second season was genius with its 22 episodes… They have to renew the show!
I’m looking forward to hearing this good news. Are they making the announcement in the morning or afternoon?
I seem to recall hearing that the announcement would come at 5PM Eastern time…can anyone confirm that?
Once agian, Michael Ausiello just put on his EW blog that barring an 11th hour change of mind, NBC will renew Chuck for a fourth season. The better news appears to be that we won’t have to wait for a January or later launch again. Chuck would begin in the fall with a standard 13 episode order and a shot to get a back nine for a full 22 after that.
