The overnight ratings are in, and up against the House season finale, Chuck remained flat in the demo. Approximately 5.2 million viewers tuned in for Scott Bakula’s return, earning the show a 1.9 in the demo (same as the last 2 weeks). While this is still a series low for Chuck, NBC is obviously confident in the series’ potential next season.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the possibility of Nerd HQ’s return. Well, …
Well, everybody, this is obviously disappointing that Orion’s return didn’t garner better ratings, but it held steady, we’ve got a guaranteed 4th season, and we’ve got two whole hours next week to knock the ratings out of the park! Let’s get some people on the Chuck bandwagon, shall we? 😀
Every single one of my friends DVRed it. Which stinks since I can’t talk to them yet, but the ratings should improve when those numbers are added in if my friends are like the US viewing audience.
The paragraph quoted below from the rbr website helps shed a little more light on the ratings–at first glance they look bad but in seeing the overall, the picture’s a little better:
http://www.rbr.com/tv-cable/tv-cable_ratings/24284.html
“On Monday, May 10 from 8-9 p.m. ET, “Chuck†averaged a 1.9 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall in a time period that included competition from ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,†Fox’s “House,†and CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother†and “Rules of Engagement.†From its first half-hour to its second, “Chuck†increased by 6 percent in adults 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.8) and 11 percent in men 18-49 (2.1 vs. 1.9). It’s worth noting that so far this season, “Chuck†has added an average 22 percent to its 18-49 rating and more than 1.1 million total viewers when going from its “live plus same day†to its “live plus seven day†results.”
I posted a comment that’s awaiting moderation–if/when it is posted, although the ratings’ article is from the week of May 10-16, but it still gives an overall picture of how the ratings improve when looking at all the numbers, not just the overnights…
once again its so furstrating that overseas fans can have zero impact on these results. and given how the weather is now improving dramatically i can understand the ratings not going up – its boiling outside and people aren’t just trapped indoors because of the cold. I’m pleased the results are holding, hopefully when Chuck’s for season 4 back we’ll see a nice positive spike in the overnights as well as overall ratings 😀
Those ratings aren’t too bad, considering that it was against new episodes on all the other networks, including the House finale. At least they didn’t drop!
I was hoping to see an increase with Papa B back. I can’t believe people missed Jeff singing, “Your uterus wouldn’t fit my baby anyway” (something like that). Those words destroyed me! For my own personal ratings spin, 1.9 is still better than my GPA freshmen year in high school, so I’m pleased. Next week will be better!
i really enjoy this episode execpt for one thing: why the writers give to us another hush time with sarah/shaw thing.
i really didn´t like the way she act about shaw, she should be angry about it, no unconfortable.
using earrings from shaw??? what??
it was hard to believe in this scene…
i hope season finale send a good message for the future of the show in season 4, with the best ratings!
all the best!
I watch live but DVR because I dont have a nielson box or whatever that thing is called. CHUCK may be renewed but we should all still watch live and show our thanks because NBC could have just as easily cancled the show.
Here’s some good news (I hope), I think that some of us feared that next season, Chuck would have to go up against other comedies, but now that the other networks have started revealing their show line-ups, it’s looking like Monday nights at 8pm will be mostly dramas. CBS is even changing their “comedy night” from Mondays to Thursdays. If Chuck ends up being the only comedy on at that time slot that night, it could help (at least a little). Just trying to stay optimistic!
Go CHUCK!
Oops, I have to take back a little of what I said. The ACTUAL schedule for CBS just came out, and there are still a couple of sitcoms at the 8pm time slot.
Sorry, my bad!
Can anyone tell me if Canadian neisen’s ratings help out in the US at all? I am a neisen’s viewer and on Monday I watched it twice…once on NBC and once on the Canadian station just so I can give Chuck as much help as I can. Am I doing anything or the fact that I’m just “north” of the action means they can’t hear me.
