Still reeling from the two-part Chuck season finale? Me too. So much happened, giving us plenty to discuss over the next few months until season 4 debuts. (Whee! Season 4!) Here are the five moments that got me the most worked up:
- Shaw shoots Orion. It happened before the end of the first half of the finale, with just a little foreshadowing. Even though I was pretty sure Papa B was the “significant death” teased several weeks ago, I was completely unprepared for the where, when and how. I swore for the second time this season.
- Justin IS a CIA agent. Finding out that Ellie was actually being held in a CIA building and that Justin really is a CIA agent (having infiltrated as a Ring agent), set my head to spinning. Well played, show.
- Morgan breaks his thumbs. I didn’t know the Little Man had it in him. I cringed, then I gave him mad props for not only trusting Casey but having both the courage and the knowledge to do it. How does one break a thumb in that situation?
- Mama Bartowski! We haven’t seen her face yet (that was a stand-in; the actress has yet to be cast for the role), but seeing the words “Mary Elizabeth Bartowski” on the screen and the broken necklace/bracelet on her arm was enough for me to yell, “YES!” There may have been a fist pump involved, too.
- Chuck finds Orion’s underground vault of intel. O.M.G. A new base of operations (under their childhood home!), racks and racks of new intel, and vast amounts of storytelling opportunities introduced in the final minutes of the finale. That high-pitched squeal your dog heard? That was me.
Those were my OMG moments, what were yours? And just how excruciating is it going to be to wait for season 4? At least Chuck returns in September this time!
Those are 5 pretty good moments. I would have to add 1 moment that really stood out to me as well. That was the moment at the end of the first hour when Ellie was on the phone with Devon tailing the truck carrying Casey/Chuck/Sarah. When Devon asked her if she was willing to go through with it and her broken up “Yes” that followed. Sarah Lancaster does a great job showing the emotions and of that moment, they were great.
that was an epic moment. When the trio don’t know how they’ll get out there’s always the B Team of Team Bartowski to pick up the slack and hurry off to their friends/ family’s rescue. Never leaving any of their own in a jam that’s our gang. 🙂
Orion’s secret facility under the family home has more than just intel/data…
Mr. B was always inventing things – my guess is that Team B will find plenty of really cool spy gadets – which they probably won’t know how to use properly! I just hope Morgan doesn’t blow himself up…
While I was also pretty sure that Orion was the character who would die, I was also shocked in the manner that it happened.
The other part was the fact that Ellie witnessed it. That’s why she wanted Chuck to promise he would retire from the spy world. She just witnessed her father getting shot and killed and Chuck was her only family left.
As for the underground lair in Chuck’s boyhood home, I wonder if he and Sarah will move there next season, so they can operate from it.
Agreed. I would have thought Stephen was going to sacrifice himself to save Chuck or Ellie. Seeing him just casually gunned down in cold blood was a real shock.
That was a surprise moment even though we knew it was coming. The question becomes…is Papa Bartowski really dead dead? Before he and Chuck went back for Sarah and the others, Chuck’s father said if we do this, we do this smart. Wonder if her had something in mind like wearing a vest to fake his death so he can come back later. And if that is too crazy, how about the fact that he was killed in a lab that was used for cellular regeneration to bring Shaw back. I have a feeling Dad will be back at some point. As Morgan would say, did you see a body, brain matter?
I totally agree. I definitely saw it coming, but as soon as it happened I wasn’t convinced he was really dead for good. We’ve already had Bryce and Shaw come back after being shot in the heart AND he died right in front of the lab. The ring will totally bring him back to create another governor or who knows what else.
My main issue is waiting to see how Chuck is going to get back into the spy business. Is he going to start lying to Ellie and everyone again?… he better just not lie to Sarah, that was just getting annoying.
Another top pick for me was the possible relationship between Alex & Morgan. Casey being new to the dad role, and Alex doesn’t seem like a pushover to me. The situation is comedy gold. Can see it now…either Casey seeing Alex coming out of Morgan’s bedroom or her giving Morgan a kiss….Hope this happens!
—as well as the ensuing catfight between Alex, Anna Wu and Carina, as they all vie for the consollovin’ prize that is Morgan Grimes!
Don’t forget Morgan’s Junior Prom Date, Ellie’s Pillow
(Funniest Line Ever!)
PLEASE no more love-tetrahedrons. We had enough with Chuck-Sarah-Lou, Chuck-Sarah-Bryce, (x2 on that one) Chuck-Sarah-Jill, Chuck-Sarah-Cole, and Chuck-Sarah-Shaw-Hannah as it is.
LOL! That would be FANTASTIC!
cant wait for this thing happen…..hahaha
In addition to the ones you mentioned, here are some of my OMG moments.
– Casey clocking Justin with a napkin dispenser, then picking Alex up and carrying her out of the pie shop.
– Casey being arrested after Alex escaped.
– Devon asking Ellie if she was sure she wanted to go through with the plan, followed by her resolute yet emotional “Yes.”
– Shaw pulling a Superman and swinging off the flag.
– The Buy More exploding.
I’ll be honest…I did not think Casey would actually tell Alex who he really was. Call me a sentimental sucker but I am really happy that she knows.
My favorite moment was the very end of Subway. When C/C/S were in the van. Chuck said “It’s over. There is no one left to save us.” And they panned to Ellie following them in her car. Perhaps the most powerful moment of the entire series.
I agree. I was watching this with a few friends, and me and the other obsessed fan there started cheering and screaming for Ellie… It was pretty awesome, if you ask me
Dido, S.L.s acting there was superb! She was so intense and focused, like a mother lion on the prowl, but at the same time there was an edge of panic to all her words and actions. You knew if she could just hold it together, she could do anything.
The big OMG moments were the ones you’d expect: lots of flash and action and heavy drama. But I was knocked out by some of the subtler stuff, too. Chuck and Sarah trying to have a normal couples day out, tasting blueberries in the market, only to have the spy world intrude on that moment. It’s the curse of their relationship. Papa B tinkering with the governor, and Sarah rescuing him from a hovering Chuck with a familial pat on the shoulder. Ellie goes for a drive with Chuck but first entrusts Sarah with Devon’s safety. In other words I love the collision of their cozy domestic world with the nail-biting spy world. For two seasons they tried to insulate friends and family from the spy stuff, and now they are all neck-deep in it. Can’t wait for Season 4.
Agreed, all good moments. I liked how she interacted with Papa B with the pat too… really cute!
All the jaw-dropping stuff mentioned but also realizing that Casey was (and had been for some time, apparently), frequenting the diner where Alex works. Since the last we heard, he seemed to have closed the door on that life and there was zero foreshadowing, it was for me a true squee moment. Followed up immediately by smiles and friendly, gentle words made even scrummier since Alex had no idea yet that she was talking to her dad. (Can we have something in AB’s contract that the Casey character be required to smile more often? Just sayin’.)
Then the surprise of Alex being a feisty martial arts grrl and not afraid to take a stand against a rather large adversary, igniting the light bulb of *a new terrific character for Season 4!* moment. *fingers crossed*
Just remembering all of the things you mentioned bring me so much joy! Casey as dad, and Alex being AWESOME make me SO excited for S4!
True I liked Alex, she’s truly her father’s daughter. She’s smart, she can fight, and she has his courage.
My wow moment was the underground hideout in the end, Mama B of course. Chuck sliding across the floor during the Clash of the Intersects. I crowed with glee when Sarah clocked Shaw a good one when he called her Sam just before she was arrested. And Casey’s daring escape from Justin, ‘kidnapping’ his daughter much to the shock of the customers. Pretty much I was in awe through the whole thing.
And add to all that, I have a sneaky suspicion that she kinda likes Morgan….which is comic GOLD for next season.
i think so too when morgan was talking to her in apt the look she gave him
I find it interesting that Alex is actually going to school to study criminal justice. But seeing Casey rescue/kidnap his daughter and then tell her the truth and give her the key to his locker at the Buy More were great moments to me. Going to be great seeing him getting used to being a father, he’s probably going to try and bond with her by taking her to shooting ranges or show her how to kill a man with her pinky. lol. And yes, she and Morgan will definitely be getting together in season 4. I’m curious to see how Casey will cope with it. lol
AB totally owned that scene. My heart went out to him seeing the tears in his eyes, my guess is that he must have been feeling the anguish any dad would feel if in that situation if it happened in real life. My love for him grows with every episode.
Agreed! This show would NOT be the same without him.
can’t forget moment when Casey has been hit by her own daughter Alex …..
His daughter, you mean. And yeas, when that happened I was like ” ouch that’s gotta hurt” lol.
ya casey got roughed up a few times in the last few episodes
My favorite five are:
1)Sarah rescuing Papa Bartowski from Chuck by taking a romantic stroll acting like a normal couple while chuck stresses, and Sarah tries to calm him down.
2)Devon spilling the beans about Chuck’s spy life and Ellies reaction including making Devon take her to Morgan and her pillow comment.
3)Morgan activating the missle and saving team bartowski accidentially and dropping the detionator
4)Sarah clocks Shaw with the rail and the look on her face when she says its what makes you great.
5)Sarah keeping her promise to get the governor from Shaw and the two just standing there holding each other
I LOVED #4 & 5!! I watched that scene over and over!
I agree with most of what has been mentioned previously and would also like to add:
Sorry, pressed the send button too quickly 🙂 As I was saying … I would like to add the following which probably weren’t OMG moments but to me were definitely ‘Aahhh moments’:
1. Sarah and Casey at the CIA base when Casey says, ‘It’s not just us they’re going to come after, it’s also the people that we care about. You coming?’ Sarah: ‘No. Everything I care about is inside this building.’ Casey: ‘Good luck Agent Walker … Sarah’ (It’s not often Casey calls her Sarah)
2. When Shaw discovers that Chuck has found their secret base and Casey says, ‘Don’t know when it happened but our boy become a man. Bartowski’s a spy. You picked a good one Walker … finally.’ and then Sarah’s smile.
i know i loved those scenes !!!!!!!
yeah, that was a great scene, I love to notice the little things it makes the episodes more special. I noticed that when Justin tells Shaw the Chuck and his dad had made the other breach, Sarah had this small triumphet (sp?) smirk on her face at Shaw, and when Casey tells her she picked a good one, her cheeks had been pale but what he says brings some color back and that smile 🙂 told me she was glad to have him by her side no matter what their fate would be. And again when they were being marched off to the cells, sarah was walking very close beside Casey, like she felt more comforted and protected in his presence even though they both were surrounded by enemies.
this scene is the best i think…..
Morgan & Awesome knowing Casey well enough to search for weapons, then arguing about not shooting people, then LAUNCHING A MISSILE!
I laughed so hard at that whole scene. Ryan Mcpartlin’s delievery is spot on. The way he says ”Whoa” when he takes a gun out of the glove compartnment, had me dying. It was great. We need Team CAM again guys it’s been too long.
When Morgan accidentally fired the missile. That was so FUNNY!
In my opinion, the entire season finale was an OMG moment! But if I must choose, I would have to say when PapaB got shot. I think that I pretty much saw that one coming, but it was still pretty shocking. It was just so sudden! I’ve watched the finale episodes three times now, and I cry every time I see PapaB die! One of my favorite moments was when Sarah punched Shaw in the face (don’t tell me you didn’t do a little cheer of victory too). Ah! There are so many things that I could say, because I loved all of it. So I will stop myself now 🙂 CHUCK ME!!!
Agree with u Lexi…..entire season finale is OMG moment
My favorite moment was Chuck waking up from the dream/flashback of his father calling him special, doing his signiture backflip up (how does he DO that?), cracking his neck and saying “Sorry, I just had to reboot.” I knew shaw was in for it then! Go Chuck!
My favourite moment, one that I didn’t see coming, was Chuck turning his laptop round and showing Shaw he was admitting everything on camera to all the spy world. It just typified how the roles had changed so much and that Chuck has truly become a brilliant spy.
Plus, Shaw’s face was priceless! Haha
I agree with all of oyu guys but…
The greatest thing about Morgan’s thumbs is that he broke BOTH thumbs… Buddy you only needed to break ONE!!! then look for some kind of tool to cut the tie on your other wrist! Remember Casey on “the suburbs” he broke just one… I think that “THAT’S WHAT MAKES MORGAN GREAT” LOL!
Other point in the same scene is when Morgan ALMOST reaches the fire alarm and Jeff activates it first OMG his face!!! XD
When Ellie sees Chuck standing over Justin’s body – Awesome moment!
I think one of the best scenes was when ELLIE, calls AWESOME to stop Shaw and MORGAN seen in the driver seat peeling away to help Chuck…that was an awesome scene!
I think the single most OMG moment that fans have forgotten was when Chuck was dreaming and Shaw appeared and said im still alive, and starts to choke Chuck and Chuck wakes up screaming while Sarah is surprised…creepy yet cool scene.
One of my favorite moments is when Sarah and Casey are being held by Shaw and Justin tells Shaw that Chuck and Papa B have found the Ring base. Casey saying, “I don’t know when it happened by our boy has turned into a spy”. (something along those lines) Casey then saying to Sarah, “You finally picked a good one”. LOL
Loved Sarah’s reaction with her big smile.
Definitely the final scene of Subway with Ellie chasing the van. It was just shot so damn well (first time they’ve used helicopter shots on Chuck?) and the music was perfect. The acting from every character was spot on in this scene as well. Closest thing to perfection I’ve seen on Chuck.
Casey’s inner self coming out. Calling Walker “Sarah” & telling her ” you picked a good one finally”. Telling Alex ” I’m your father” Finally being the protective dad, watch out Morgan. Ellie is the Big Sister protector,WOW
Yup watching Casey in the finale was one the greatest highlights for me. I can’t stop shaking my head in amazement at how far he’s come and how masterfully and beautifully Adam Baldwin has portrayed his character through out the series. The man’s awesome love him.
I’m amazed that haven’t seen mentioned about young Chuck wearing the Superman t-shirt when he is orignally interescted! (Duh! Wasn’t Brandon Routh Superman). The writers are REALLY subtle!
One of the best moments of the finale for me was when Jeff yells out “Pineapple”, a reference from season 1 to clear out the Buy More.
I know!! As Jeff and Lester were talking with Big Mike about finding a way out, I knew he was gonna say Pineapple. It was great!! I literally quoted it as he said it.
One of my favorites was the Awesome/ Devon thing at the beginning of Subway with Morgan (he answers to Awesome!) and then the look on Devon’s face as he realizes he’s said too much to Ellie– the holy crap are you going to be mad face.
There are SO many great scenes in this finally that it’s so hard to choose. My three OMG moments are all related to Sarah’s journey into love:
1. Sarah saying to Casey, “Everything I care about is in this building,” inside the CIA headquarter.
2. Sarah putting the governor on Chuck and the look of relief on her face as she watches him recover.
3. Sarah responding to Chuck with, “Well, I fell in love with a regular guy.” when he asked whether she could love a regular guy. She looked so disappointed when he said he quit. She lost her partner …
Sarah shows how much she’s committed to Chuck.
Yeah. Hopefully he will tell Sarah about the whole mama B ending so there’s no more secrets.
Good points of interest. Although Sarah loves Chuck I think she felt a little abandoned by him. She may take another look at living with him and not really being a part of his family–he did not discuss the most important part of their relationship prior to making a decision. Its time for Chuck to buy a ring and make Sarah an official part of the family. There is no way he can survive as a spy (his new found legacy-Thanks Dad!!) without Sarah. He needs to bring Sarah on board asap–he has no choice if he and Ellie are to survive.(per Dad).
Yeah i have to say Sarah did look incredibly disappointed after Chuck said he quit. Now the big question is how is he going to come back into the spy world? how’s ellie going to respond to it? question for anyone who wants to anwer: was it just me, or did sarah look happy or sad at the end when chuck told ellie he quit? i’m so confused i couldn’t really tell. she looked sad at first when he first looked at her, then kinda pleased in the end when he told ellie the truth. IDK
I LOVED the moments Pokey mentioend- they were my favorite part of teh episodes!
Sam, I am worried about that too. I REALLY hope all the lying is over- I was getting really annoyed with it. Sarah has always backed him up 100% from the very firs incident together with the bomb on the pilot episode. Why, oh why does he not trust her?? It makes me worry he will lose her if she thinks he has changed. I really hope he brings her in right away with all the new stuff from Papa B and his mom. They work so much better as a team!!
Natalie- I wasn’t sure about the looks either. I think Sarah is probably as confused as we are. On one hand, she loves him because of the way he takes care of his family/friends and isn’t a hardened spy- but on the other hand she is probably wondering how they can make it work if Chuck isn’t in the spy game. In the end, as long as they stay together, I’m happy!
A little concern –Chuck talking to Elllie about family being such a big thing and then when Casey’s daughter enters the apartment Chuck introduces her to Ellie and Awsome and rudely does not introduce her to Sarah. This plus not talking about leaving the spy world with Sarah after saying he would stay with her and they would remain spys. Sarah may move out and remain a spy thinking that is the only family she has left. She can always tell Chuck she loves him but she just has the spy world as family. He needs to make a quick proposal after taking her on a tour of his father’s spy digs. I want them to stay together-no more angst!!
Chuck didn’t need to introduce Alex to Sarah, she was there when they all met her.
Now that’s continuity 😀 Good call louzeyre!
Do not remember that–maybe I had a senior moment–Other than toward the end when they gathered for dinner I do not remember Alex being around Sarah. When Chuck introduced Ellie and Awsome was the only time I can remember Sarah around Alex. Remind me if you will–I will go look at the last two episodes again.
I hope Chuck brings the search for his mother to Sarah–I am tired of his lies and deception when it comes to Sarah. Perhaps when Sarah finds out there will be a mini explosion about secrets–search for Chuck’s mother vs Sam.
For me it was:
-Shaw shoots Orion. I was speechless. Shaw is so evil and cold! Muh haha.
-Shaw’s slowmo entrance into the hearing. Wow. And I loved that they played his music during it.
-Shaw calling Sarah “Sam.” I thought: “OMG, now what is she gonna do?”
-Like someone said, Shaw pulling a Superman and swinging off the flag. So sexy. hehe
-Ellie, Morgan and Awesome to the rescue!
-The final scene when Chuck finds Orion’s underground vault. So cool!
now if you remember chuck did that same slide in chuck vs the alma mater when him and bryce were playing tag in the library
I like the Al Pacino line pulled of by Shaw when he tells sarah that he is ready for chuck and his dad to come and resque them. ” I’ll be ready for him …and his dad! … MUHAA !! ”
My favorite parts were when Chuck was having a bad intersect flah thingy, and sarah would run over to him and get all worried.
I also liked the partswith Sarah and Shaw, like when she roundhoused him after chuck refused to kill him, and when she punched him when he called her Sam. Tee Hee.
I liked the trial, too, how Sarah defended Chuck’s sanity, and then nearly cried when she found out the truth. 🙁 🙂
I have to wonder if Orion might show up again later…yesterday I was going back through season 2, and I forgot all about the exploding helicopter that he was supposedly in, before Chuck knew who he was. Later, he tells Chuck that he could understand how he would have the impression that Orion was dead, and explains that he’s often had to do stuff like that.
Who knows, maybe Orion has some sort of clone back up? As far as I know, they never explained what happened with the helicopter. I’m hoping that’s the case–if Mrs. Bartowski is getting involved, it would be great to keep Orion in the picture, since there is clearly a story between the two of them.
I hope he does, if dead he could always appear like Jar-el, or in flashbacks. But since there was no body… I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he’ll return.
Can’t believe no one mentioned this but, after Chuck turns the laptop around and shows Shaw he is Live, he says : “What do i say to that? Mu ha ha!”
SO EPIC!!
My favorite moment was a small one. When Casey & Sarah are locked up together and hear the news that Chuck has infiltrated the Ring facility, Casey finally
approves of Sarah’s choice of Chuck. Just look at Yvonne’s face during that scene, it says so much without her having to say a word it’s amazing. A great moment of subtle acting going on there.
He always had approved though never saying it. Casey’s the biggest shipper of all of us. And of course WE wouldn’t have it any other way. 😉
Lots of great moments, but did anyone else enjoy how many times that slimy snake Justin got smacked in the face? First Chuck, then Casey, then Chuck then Sarah. Awesome.
I realise it was less than an OMG moment but for sublime underplayimg of a comic moment, I thought the scene where Morgan and Devon are explaining to Ellie the reality of life with Chuck and the Ring and more importantly John Casey’s role, was hilarious. Especially the episode with the tea and the synchronised movements, great moments.
OMG moment also missed. How could Chuck give Sarah his mother’s charm bracelet when she is clearly – STILL wearing it. OMG Bad -losing Steven B. OMG Goood – gaining Elizabeth B. OMG Best – Realizing that Season 4 is going to be all about Team Bartowski, including Ellie, Awesome, Morgan (they may consider changing their last names to Bartowski, as we know Sam will and clearly Ellie is wearing the family pants). Final thought for you men out there. How bout the way Sarah looked back at Chuck when the siblings were planning their futures. Yet she loves him as a geek, a spy, or a regular guy.
See you again in the Fall. I’d love for them to keep the “Hart to Hart” takeoff intro. That was pretty funny.
The charm bracelet we see Mama B wearing is fashioned from the necklace Chuck broke in the flashback toward the beginning of the episode. The bracelet Chuck gave Sarah is different.
