RATINGS: “Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror” Safely Steady

The fast overnight ratings are in, and once again Chuck held steady even with a scary Halloween-themed episode last night that featured Robert Englund and the return of Linda Hamilton.

5.453 million viewers tuned in, pulling a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demo. That 1.9 is looking even better given the scary free-fall the other NBC shows experienced this last Monday night. Chuck’s stability is more and more impressive with each passing week.

  1. In its fourth season, I would suggest that the potential for ‘growing the audience’ has pretty much peaked. Ratings should hold fairly steady with the core group of around 5.3 – 5.4 million watching every week. Don’t forget to re-watch on both the internet and especially ‘on demand.’ Let’s keep watching and trying to convert the infidels though!

  2. Happy to hear that the ratings are holding steady. I’ve been reading the reviews and forums and it appears that not every S4 episode has been a hit with fans. I put that down to the new writers who are still trying to find their feet in the Chuck world, I’m sure it will get better as the season progresses. Next week’s episode is written by Lauren & Rafe who are amazing and I have every faith in their ability to write an epic episode as everything they have done so far has been fantastic. I’m sure next week’s episode will draw in more viewers and increase the ratings. No pressure then guys!! 🙂

    • I agree. personally i was not that impressed at first few episodes but i will keep watching until the show ends. sometime in 2040.

      • Im not sure what has got the fans so divided I thought the premere was great it was like watching a movie

  3. Though like most chuck fans i wish the ratings would increase but i’m really glad that it is holding steady. Go chuck!

  4. I agree steady is better then ratings dropping like The event and Chase. wouldn’t mind an increase in viewers though since it seems thats all that the networks care about this day is the money a show can make. more viewers + advertising = more profit

    • Well, One of the main reasons that NBC is keeping Chuck around is because it still makes good money for them (around 800 000$/episode). As long as that continues it will be in contention for renewal.

  5. Pleased it’s still steady, though I’d be more thrilled if the ratings increase. What can you do huh? Except be loyal fans and cheer the show on. 🙂

  6. I’m surprised that the ratings didn’t increase for this one because House was a repeat and this was Linda Hamilton’s first major episode. Of course there’s still Monday Night Football. Nice to see the Event and Chase still falling.

  7. I’m not holding my breath, there’s every indication that this will be the last season (despite the full season order) — I just hope they’re wise enough to wrap up the storylines so they don’t leave us hanging.

    • I wouldn’t be too sure…With this season being 24 episodes long, this will put the series total for Seasons 1-4 at 78 total episodes, just 22 shy of the 100 episodes generally considered the benchmark for achieving syndication.

  8. This is definitely good news. Like everyone else, I’d rather see the ratings increase, and I still believe we can make that happen if we can just promote the show enough (Vote for the TV Guide cover!!!) and if NBC starts putting more advertising dollars into it. Even so, the fact that the ratings and viewership are holding so steady are a testament to how successful the show is in terms of its fanbase. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I haven’t seen an example of a show with such a fiercely, consistently loyal core fanbase since Star Trek.

  9. OH NO!!!! Chuck is no longer TV guide’s cover poll nr.1.

We are SECOND!!!! LETS VOTE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cannot lose this cover!!

    • and you can vote as many times as you want! I have so far voted 13 times (:

      • If people that work on a computer vote at least five times each hour (that’s not much), that means 40 votes during a working day. And voting is real quick. I am voting way more than that (but I also work more than 8 hours on my computer), but I thing 40 votes a day is pretty reasonable and everyone I know is voting at least that.

        But any vote counts!
