EW.com has a Spoiler Room dedicated to Chuck this week, and we get a lot of juicy information from showrunner Chris Fedak. Some is confirmation of things we hinted at previously (welcome back, Roan and Carina!), but there’s some new info in there as well.
Janine asked: Have they decided on a name for baby Awesome yet?
Fedak tells me the answer is yes, and unfortunately it’s not Awesome Jr. or Mini-Awesome — at least officially. But do look for an upcoming episode where all the characters get into the baby name debate. Specifically, how unique it should be.Kristin asked: Can we expect any more Awesome missions? As we all do. Lucky for us he has his biggest mission to date coming up: fatherhood. After baby Awesome is born around episode 13, expect to see infant-centric plotlines (think insomnia and fecal matter) that will find our Awesomeness in a mini identity crisis. “We’re going to watch Ellie and Awesome, who are the perfect couple, having a baby [and it] is a test. Is Awesome still the most awesome guy in the world when you have a baby keeping you up for 99 percent of the night?†Fedak says.R asked: Yay, Chuck FTW! Considering the episode is called “Chuck Versus the Seduction Impossible,†did you really have any doubt? He is, indeed, returning, Fedak confirms. When NBC picked up the show for 11 more episodes in October (for a total of 24 for the season), it was a very promising sign. But Fedak admits that he’s “not used to feeling relaxed. Funny story. Matthew Willig will be returning to the show, but he’s playing a different Yuri — apparently, a favorite character name for the great writing team at Chuck. He’ll be playing Yuri the Gobbler in the aptly titled episode “Chuck versus the Gobbler,†but Fedak teased: “…I won’t go into why he’s called the Gobbler — it’s because he eats people!†I don’t think he was joking.Nicki said: Way to go Chuck fans! This was great! This season out of all of them has had the most storylines I’ve been looking forward to. The engagement, Baby Awesome, Chuck’s mom, Volkoff, Buy More, etc. And now Carina and Roan coming back! Fingers crossed Chuck has to seduce women in Seduction Impossible and Sarah is not amused.
Loved every word of that super scoop! Most notable, Carina! Roan! So glad we get to see them again in the midst of parenthood and a proposal. Awesome!
I’m hoping that the actress attribution for Carina is a typo above, not that Mini Arden is being recast.
So–is there going to be an engagement and or wedding in season 4—if not and we do not get a season 5 I guess there will not be a true Hart to Hart connection. Hope we get a season 5 regardless.—Carina’s return sounds good–hope there are no Carina/Alex problems over Morgan.
And don’t forget: Carina also apparently had a fling with Casey at one point (as was hinted back in the Season 1 ep “vs the Wookiee”)…Yep, Carina’s return could have the makings of some…interesting situations for Alex to deal with.
The reason that Carina frolicked with Morgan is that he was the first guy to ever tell her “no”. One can only presume him capable of saying “no” again and then not sleeping with her. Especially with the threat of bodily harm levelled by Casey should Morgan break his daughter’s heart, as added incentive.
Actaully Chuck was the first guy to tell her NO (when he turned her down in one of the prevous episodes) when she was going after him because Sarah “wanted Chuck”.

You are correct, Rod. It not only slipped my mind, but it apparently slipped the mind of the writers who had her utter those words to Morgan. Perhaps she gets told “no” more often than she likes to admit.
I think Morgan was the first guy to tell her no that didn’t already have someone he was with or wanted to be with around (since Anna was gone) . Also he told her no after showing every sign of being wildly attracted to her the first time they met.
She’s also used to keeping men’s attention based on her looks and it was her personality that made him say no . So she’s also not used to men focusing on her personality.
Interesting points, TB. I don’t get the impression that Carina’s sexual playbook makes the distinction as to whether a “liaison” has someone else in his life. I like your point about what might motivate a man to tell her “no”. I would then amend my statement to read “Perhaps men focus on her personality more often than she likes to admit”.
Carina might not care if a guy has someone but the guy might tell her no because of that. Morgan however had no reason but her personality to tell her no unlike now where he’s happily taken.
I really hope that Carina finds out the whole chain reaction mess after she gave Sarah the video of Chuck saying he loved her and explaining himself. I seriously dounbt that she thought it would be Sarah sees video, asks for transfer , Chuck overhears, tries to move on, Sarah gets with walking disaster and so on.
Bonus if she’d ever met Shaw and had a really low opinion of him without hearing about him trying to overthrow the CIA and killing Papa B and asks Sarah what the heck was she thinking.
Chuck’s worse fear – from Isle of Terror – is being responsible for Sarah’s death because of his trust in his mom. Or, I imagine, being responsible for the death of any of his loved ones because of something he did, or didn’t do.

I feel like his worst fear is sarah dying because he didn’t kill the person that “killed” her. On a side note, Yay! happy Roan and Carina are back that seduction ep will be HILARIOUS! Proposal, I knew it 🙂 I can imagine chuck is in the middle of a mission and Ellie or Awesome calls to tell him the baby is coming, while he’s being held at gunpoint, imagine the awkwardness XD

Loved adding this, it’s great to fisnlly have some more grate new chuck news. Season 4 has been awesome so far and it’s only going to gtet better, with carina, roan coming back and maybe seeing more into how Sarah walker become who she is today is incredible can’t wait, I’m a little depressed in what is said about the epic proposal, I’m starting to think that we will not be seeing this as soon as we want to, I hope we do as I just can’t wait, and it shows how far Sarah has come to finally she at the point that she wants to get married so we defiantly have to see it.
I’m guessing it’ll be during the season finale.
I hope their is a proposal but I kinda doubt it’s gonn be this early on, maybe the only thing we’ll see is chuck holding a wedding ring 🙂
I think CF just wants to keep us guessing about when the proposal will happen.

I’m not sure what poll we won, either. I thought I was voting in every poll that was out there, and I thought we were losing – so it’s good to hear that we won SOMETHING!! 🙂 Usually there is a “Save Our Show” poll near “decision day” in the spring. Hopefully we’ll win that one (again).
Anyway, it will be AWESOME to have both Roan and Carina back again. They are two of my favorite guest characters ever – not just because of who they are as actors – but because the characters always bring out something important in Chuck and/or Sarah.
So….. Bring on the next 14 episodes. And a Safe and Happy New Year to all!

I was wondering if we will see sort of a reverse Phase 3 episode. Where Sarah is in a coma in hospital and we get to see Chuck go through an emotional roller coaster ride much like we saw from Sarah in Phase 3.
I could see Casey locating the guys who put Sarah in the hospital and grabbing Chuck to go after them. This could set up for a moral dillema. Does Chuck kill the man/men who hurt Sarah or does he stop Casey for killing them? I have the feeling Casey would want to tear them apart “limb from limb from limb”.
Season 4 has been the best yet, and this interview has made me even more excited to see the next 14! And I’m glad to see some Chuck fans leaving some positive comments. The comments on the EW article, not pretty.

I dont think they are going to kill sarah because if they thought the chuckpocalypse was bad that would be ten times worse.with the jeffster story i think they are going along the lines of the beatles where because of what has been mentioned in the synopsis for ep 11 i think its going to be a john and yoko situation.
No, Volkov will not kill Sarah, but she very well may be in a situation that she could be killed, like Chuck did (trust his mom), or didn’t do something (trust Sarah), and Sarah got captured, and now Chuck has to save her, just like Sarah did for him in 4.09.
Think “Chuck’s ultimate proof of love for Sarah”. That would be awesome!
I believe that with the worst fear he could imagine would sarah gettin hurt on a mission because of him, and then eliie finding out that chuck is spying again becaue ellie or devon will have to save her.
I’m more interested/worried about Jeffster’s next “most outrageous” song is going to be… Assuming they don’t start writing their own songs (which would be “most outrageous”, I guess), I’m thinking, since it’s supposed to be a very long performance, it’s Bon Jovi’s “November Rain” (they’ve already covered Blaze of Glory), or one of Meat Loaf’s longer songs, something like, “I’d Do Anything for Love”, maybe?
Yay! Carina’s coming back! I wish they’d make her a regularly reoccurring character. She’s brilliant.
I really would like to find out what she thinks of what happened after she gave Sarah the video.
Also it would be neat if she tried to hook up with Morgan because she liked that he tried harder and casey eneded up warning her off because he didn’t want his daughter to get hurt if it even appeared that Morgan was falling for her charms.
I don’t think we need to deepen Sarah’s mystery , we really don’t know anything about her , how can they make it deeper?
It would be nice though if they had Sarah tell Chuck her full name and then say that she was sorry that he found out her first name the way she did and that she never should have told Shaw her name and that’s she’s sorry that she gave her trust to someone who didn’t deserve it instead of someone who did like him. Basically I want her to do some self examination of her bizarre season 3 behavior. A good time would be if Chuck starts to have doubts about them and thinking that they are repating his parents history and it will end badly and he doesn’t want to waste years of his life on the wrong woman the way it appears his father did.
I agree with you Tamara. That is one way of proving that Sarah is really honest and open with Chuck. I’m sure a lot are also asking “Does Chuck know Sarah’s real name?”. From the start of S4 they have been officially together for 8-9 months and all this time Chuck never asked Sarah her true name or Sarah still keeping it a secret to Chuck…If yes Why?..So where is the agreement “No secrets no lies”?
chuck knows her first name is Sam and her middle is Lisa. her last name isnt too important considering we all want it to be Bartowski.
It’s not the name itself , it’s the telling of it that’s important. That’s why it still rankles that she told Shaw her first naem so easily and the only reason Chuck heard her middle name was that he heard her even though she didn’t mean him to.
It could be he’s afraid to ask her given her reaction in the past. If he has any underlying fears about whether or no he’s the “one” for her than he might not want to ask and be refused or ask and have her clam up or bolt.

I just assumed that he knows her full name when she gave him her spy will in season 3, the same night Chuck wrote his own. I don’t know for sure, but I just figured he would have popped it open and glanced at her name or something. She also may have just told him and we haven’t seen it.
If he was the kind of guy to do that he would have been trying to force himself to flash on her to learn her secrets. The snoopiest thing he did was to follow her when she met her father but that was probably partially motivated by jealousy because he thought she was meeting another man.
We already know that Sarah will say yes to a wedding because she mentioned it in 2 episodes 4.02 and 4.09. I would really hate it if Sarah and chuck don’t get married. Roan and Carina back is really awesome. Thanks for the spoilers.

They are not going to kill Sarah. I could see her getting seriously hurt, but they wouldn’t kill her off that would be show suicide.

TPTB will let Chuck think she is dead, when in actually she is not. That way, they can have Chuck open the Spy Will and read what Sarah’s backstory is. They will not, however, kill her.That would be ratings suicide.
As far as they name revel to Shaw in S3, so it is ok for Chuck to move on and sleep with Hannnah, but Sarah can not seek comfort in talking with Shaw.Yes, she did tell Shaw her name, but it was more to do with her fears and concerns of how she had changed also, buy way of seeing Chuck change.She need to open up to someone and it would more than likely have been Chuck..If he wasn’t SLEEPING with Hannah! He is the one that left her at the platform to begin with, once he made his choice, there’s no going back or taking it back, that would have been it…period. She deserves to connect with someone as much as Chuck did, so don’t give me this double standard.
Sarah is my favorite character, but I know most will not agree with me when I say Sarah has turned into an emotional wuss.She went from cautious and in control of her emotions and taking it slow and giving love a small chance to marriage soo quickly it made my head spin and now I swear she overshares alot and seems to have no backbone anymore.Anything Chuck wants, he gets whether Sarah wants it or not.She choose Chucks wants over her own.And yes, you do do that for people you love sometimes, but not all the time and especially when it comes to Marriage, children, suitcase unpacking…Chuck tried to let her take it slow, how long did that last? One episode? I personally think the TPTB should have lengthened the courtship over the whole season, making the overt changes in Sarah much more subtle. JMHO
Chuck only slept with Hannah after Sarah told him Shaw was her type and after asking for a transfer (which Chuck overheard) after hearing Chuck explain himself. Chuck didn’t reject a relationship with Sarah , he rejected the plan. Her plan required that he abandon his remaining family , friends and his future that was derailed for years and spend the rest of his life on the run from people she told him he couldn’t run and hide from (which is why he felt they had to run off after getting Ellie’s permission to be together because she indicated that she was only willing to be with him if he sacrificed everything he cared about but her) . This came after it looked like she was going to leave with Bryce which left him looking like the rebound guy and that her running away was because of the pain of Bryce’s death and that she wanted to be with someone who loved her. Also Sarah rejected a relationship with Chuck plenty of times and he didn’t completely shut her out of his life the way she did him. The way she went from Shaw to Chuck didn’t help the rebound appearance.
By telling Shaw her name(and about her red test) she was giving Shaw everything she had denied Chuck for years where he didn’t give Hannah anything he wasn’t willing to give Sarah. Plus there’s the rest of the odd , enabling behavior she displayed around Shaw, smiling when he hit a tied up man, watching while he choked Chuck, doing nothing but asking for me when he wanted to blow Chuck up over some discs that seemed to have no importance (she could have at least cited Chuck’s importance as the Intersect if she didn’t want to make it personal) , punishing Chuck for his red test while rewarding the man who blantantly used her to give it(he told her to do it because Chuck would do it for her), walking with him arm in arm to the site where she killed his wife after she knew and he knew that she killed his wife even though she knew he was serious enough about avenging his wife’s murder to go on a suicide mission and she meant so little to him as a girlfriend it didn’t even slow him down, he acted like he was giving her back to Chuck because he was done using her).

Chuck from DAY ONE said over and over and over…that what he wanted was a normal life and Sarah.When she gave him the chance he said he wanted, he rejected her.He now all of a sudden wants to be a spy (funny how that happened when he got his physical skills from the intersect and boosted his ego)He said it was because he could do some good, well that had not changed from the beginning, only when he became a skilled fighter did he change his mind, so I do not buy that explanation, but I do not blame him either.BUT He must realize it WAS a choice and he choose the spy game.Great, wonderful, fine but he can not expect Sarah to not be hurt and move on from being rejected. (Just like Chuck did with Hannah) Then Chuck goes to spy school and flunks out THEN wants Sarah back.So your first choice did not pan out the way you wanted, now you go to your second choice (that is what it was) and expect her to just be ok with that??? NO he made his choice.He made his bed now he has to lie in it!
Shaw was a rebound period, maybe Hannah was too, but you can not blame Sarah for things that Chuck has done also..it a double standard.He can sleep with other girls, follow sarah on what he thinks is a date (her father)and break up with Sarah time and again (I do not blame him for that he thought there was no chance)BUT then some guy shows interest in her and he then wants her back.Sorry, but you can not have your cake and eat it too.
Yes she shared with Shaw because she was changing also, reflecting on her past and who she was as she saw Chuck changing and not for the better.She was afraid for him and she could talk to Shaw because he is a spy also and privy to all the information.Hannah is not a spy and could not be let in on it.If she was a spy I know Chuck would have spilled his guts to her,yes he would.The only reason he did not was he couldn’t. Sarah only really started to see Shae after Chuck had moved on.Sarah being with Shaw was her trying to move past it, but did Sarah ever come into the office whistling and blantantly happy to let everyone know that she was sleeping with him, like Chuck did when he slept with Hannah???
And Sartah does not need to regret anything or apologie for anything, she was single , by Chucks choice…
With Shaw Sarah seemed to have lost all the common sense she had before. Moving on was perfectly acceptable but ignoring the danger to your own life after you know the man is willing to die to avenge his wife in a half baked plan and you in his life isn’t even a reason to slow down yet you think he won’t want revenge against you once he finds out you killed his wife makes no sense. She also rewarded him when he behaved badly .
I had no problem with her trying to move on. The utter creepiness of him and the way she became his appendage bothered me. It was like watching Bangel .
I found Hannah a bit creepy but at least partially understandable but at least we didn’t have to put up with her for long.
For some reason they made the PLI’s for Sarah just so wrong. Even with Barker she seemed to be fawning and got captured because she threw away her professionalism when she was around him.
Even though I didn’t like Bryce, at least he made some sense. There was history there.

I do agree with you about the whole Sarah agreeing to work with Shaw after finding out about killing his wife..She should have known or be very suspicious about him being so forgiving, Chuck did. I do think that Sarah did kind of resort back to “old spy mode” so to speak, she controlled her emotions again and dated someone who like her was not looking for anything heavy.I think they just understood eachother that way.Chuck rejecting her made her resort back to what she always thought, opening up emotionally is a mistake and you will get hurt.Shaw was mannipulative when he used her to get Chuck to do the red test, but at that point, I think she did not want to do it, but her job being #1 again, had to.And I think she was thinking that if Chuck wantes to really be a spy, then he will have to go through with his Red Test, but to let him know he could back out and being himself was ok.But it still really bothered her to see him change the way she did and she felt responsible for Chuck being at this point.He would not have been at this point if she did not enter his life.
I do agree Shaw was a bit creepy, when I first saw Mask and he was asking if they had slept together for cover sake & when he was nuzzling her neck I was like “Huh, Sexual harrassment?”..lol

I did not find Hannah creepy.the only thing I questioned about her was why would she up and move to Burbank just to follow a guy you met a couple of days ago? I am sure she would of had her pick of guys and she moves to Burbank to follow a guy & work at Buy More? But, I think Hannah was a nice girl and think she was treated badly.I know Chuck did not mean to hurt her, but I think it fell into the learning what it means to be a spy. I think every spy has to learn on thier own that you really can not date a civilian.You have to deceive and lie to them all the time and they are in danger.Chuck just had to learn the hard way.
About Cole Barker, she was good with him I thought.I think she was professional (she would have stepped in for any one of her team also), I think it was him that was pushing for it not to be.I also think she should have taken him up on his vacation offer.Just to relax and have a good time for a week, no strings attached. I would have…lol

It means things are looking good for another season. We’ll know for sure by mid-May at the latest.
I feel like the proposal might not happen. Fedak’s response was vague and it seemed like he was saying it wouldn’t happen. That’s just what I thought.
No, he just meant that the person who thought knew “when” it would happen was probably wrong.
The proposal will happen when we will least expect it; it’s a matter of “when”, not “if”; otherwise, all that build up since 4.01 was done for naught? I don’t think so.
