Deadline Hollywood Says Chuck Season 4 Looks Probable

Chuck fans are eagerly awaiting NBC’s decision to renew the show for a fourth season, and word from Deadline Hollywood‘s Nellie Andreeva certainly makes it look promising:

Last year, NBC’s Chuck got an 11th hour reprieve, clinching a partial 3rd-season order on Sunday afternoon before upfront week. This time around, its fate will be decided earlier if the show’s producers get their way. Several days ago, creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak pitched NBC their vision for Season 4 and producing studio Warner Bros asked the network for a quick resolution so the series could keep its writing staff. Even with NBC brass happy with their drama development, the spy dramedy’s chances of renewal are considered very good — and certainly a lot better than last year when a sponsorship deal with Subway sealed the renewal. With the show rising in the ratings this week and fans staging rallies tomorrow, Chuck may be one solid ratings performance tomorrow night away from an early renewal.

In case the name Nellie Andreeva doesn’t sound familiar, she’s a recent hire for Deadline Hollywood, after serving as TV editor for The Hollywood Reporter since 2004. In other words, if she’s expecting a positive outcome for Chuck, that means she’s hearing good things from some solid sources.

  1. Thank goodness! I’m pretty confident that it will be renewed but what she wrote about the chances being better this year than the last really assured me.

  2. I won’t believe it till it’s actually been confirmed by NBC.

  3. Sounds good but let’s not relax the renewal campiagn. Even if we get an early renewal, the show still needs more viewers.

  4. Please GOD let this be true. I’ve been watching this show from the very first ep in season one. Its the highlight of my week. Coming together with friends and family to watch a show every Monday that leaves you with a goofy smile on ur face is well……AWESOME. So please let there be a 4th season. PLEASE!!!!!! I will not relax and stop telling people about this amazing show until I know for sure that Chuck is coming back for another fun and amazing 4th season.

  5. I won’t believe it until it’s been confirmed. I just don’t wan’t to get my hopes up. But I really do hope it’s true though…

  6. Please oh please be right!

  7. AWESOME:D That good news!

  8. This is interesting. Did anyone see the TVBN ‘Don’t Save thier Show’ poll.
Yay! – Chuck is in last place.

  9. I think we are screwed

Um nbc just picked up a spy show about a retired spy couple thet gets reinstated its supposed to be just like Hart to Hart. why on earth would nbc want to shows that are like hart to hart.

    • Because it’s from J.J. Abrams (LOST, Alias) and NBC loves to do “theme nights”. Think “Spy Night on NBC”.

      • I really hope that helps the whole Chuck situation

      • Assuming NBC puts these shows together, I will be curious to see how the Chuck writers navigate around “The Undercovers” story lines. Obviously, one is a dramedy and the other seems to be darker, but the Abrams show could block some potential Chuck story lines, I would think.

      • I think it’s the other way around. Undercovers is the newcomer and will have to adjust to Chuck a little bit (assuming we get picked up, knock on wood)

  10. Holding my breath till the ratings get out tomorrow. I don’t mind saying I’m scared. Fingers crossed.

  11. I was also wondering what Undercovers would do to Chuck. I’ve been excited about that show ever since I heard of it, but Chuck will always be my number one. Hope she’s right and the show will get renewed.

  12. Guys i really wouldnt worry 2 much, Chuck is 1 of NBC’s most viewed programmes and with the viewer troubles going on with their network, Chuck is defiantely not 1 of their number 1 priorities. We won SaveOneShow, and Chucks ratings have been good, not brilliant but good. NBC has more worries than Chuck, and Chuck is 1 of their steady shows on their network, very unlikely they will cancel it.

My view= 90% they will renew it

  13. NBC has already renewed shows with less viewers than Chuck has, so here’s hoping that NBC does the right thing and renews Chuck for a 4th season.
