Chuck Fashion: “We’re Getting Married”

Tornadoes and malware conspired to make this week’s column late, but we promised a wedding fashion column this week and couldn’t disappoint! Chuck costume designer Robin Lewis-West was happy to answer questions about this long-awaited event, so let’s get to it!

Tina and Bradley, among others, wondered about the origins of the wedding dress Sarah tried on in Castle in “Chuck vs. the First Bank of Evil”. Robin pulled it from Warner Bros. wardrobe collection, meaning it was a dress that had been used in other productions and placed in WB’s enormous warehouse. No word on whether it came with the bullet holes & (faux) blood or if those were added for its Chuck appearance.

Sarah’s attendants – Zondra, Carina, and Ellie – looked lovely in BCBGMAXAZARIA pleated silk chiffon dresses in Chambray. Robin altered them by removing the tie belt and shortening Zondra & Carina’s gowns to set them apart from Maid of Honor Ellie (and 6 months pregnant Sarah Lancaster).

And now for the main event: Sarah’s wedding gown. Yes, it’s different from the one that triggered her epiphany in Castle, but when a dress has bullet holes and blood stains, you probably don’t want to wear it to your wedding. Bad luck and all that. Instead, Robin chose this stunning Monique Lhuillier “Vivienne” gown for the big day. From her 2009 collection, this ivory silk satin organza strapless gown features a drop waist and a spiral embroidered skirt. It retailed for almost $12,000, but since it’s from 2 years ago, we hope Sarah got a discount!

That’s the fashion scoop for this week. Got a burning question? Drop us a line and we’ll do our best to get it answered.

  2. For whatever a man’s opinion is worth, fashion-wise, I liked the dress Sarah wore for the actual wedding in “Cliffhanger” much better than the dress she tried on in Castle in “First Bank of Evil.”

    • I really liked both of them. Sarah/Yvonne looked absolutely stunning in both dresses. But I do admit, her actual wedding gown was simply incredible!

Thanks for these articles, Mel. I particularly like the ones about Sarah. 🙂

btw, for what it’s worth, I’m a guy too.

      • I do like it when guys aren’t ashamed to say they like some dresses better than others.

  3. See, maybe I’m in the minority here because I’m both a girl and I loved the actual wedding dress more than the “practice” one.. Sarah seems to typically go for very simple, not too dramatic over-the-top or full of attitude clothing (I presume cause shes a spy) so I loved how romantic and how much character her gown had.

  4. Not gonna lie, I LOVE this column.. it sorta gives me a reason to love summer mondays 🙂

    • We took this week off for Memorial Day, but the column will return next week and run all summer!
