Friday Five: Previous Acting Gigs for Chuck Actors

We recently took a peek at projects that the cast of Chuck has coming up (Yvonne’s movie in theaters today! Killer Elite! See it this weekend!), so this week I thought we’d take a look back at some of the roles they had prior to landing the Best Job Ever.

  1. A Man Called Jayne – Adam Baldwin has been in the biz since he was 18, but before becoming John Casey, I knew him best as Jayne Cobb on the short-lived, but well-loved Joss Whedon series Firefly.
  2. A Preppy Dubbed Kip – You know how Zachary Levi so perfectly inhabits the geek role as Chuck Bartowski then switches seamlessly to the suave Charles Carmichael? Take a look at his role as Kip in Less Than Perfect, an ABC sitcom that featured Zac as an uber-preppy metrosexual climbing the corporate latter at a network news office.
  3. A Blonde Named Rachel – Another cast member who’s been acting since they were a teenager is Sarah Lancaster. She starred in Saved By The Bell: The New Class for three seasons in the ’90s, playing fashion obsessed Rachel. A natural blonde, Sarah dyed her hair brown to play Chuck’s sister.
  4. A Hunk Called Riley – Before he was Captain Awesome, Ryan McPartlin played Riley, the much younger love interest of Fran Drescher on the short-lived sitcom Living with Fran. Semi-awesome.
  5. A Geek Named James – The Buy More was a downgrade for Joshua Gomez: before he took his computer repair skills to Burbank, he spent a season playing James, a computer tech for the (fictitious) FBI Missing Persons Unit on Without a Trace. His season 3 upgrade to CIA operative brought him back up on par with his previous gig.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but we did have to limit to five for the title of the article to work. Where else have you seen the cast?

    • Yvonne was part of some australian show where she and 3 others were either trapped or had to escape somewhere. Cant remember what it was though.

  3. Adam Baldwin was on Independance Day – “Is that glass bulletproof?”

  4. zac as kipp on less than perfect was a jerk. i didnt like him

  5. I’m afraid I go all the way back to “that tall kid is a lot cuter than Chris Makepeace” in My Bodyguard. Yes, that’s when the crush started.

  6. lol i guess so. but now hes chuck so :p

  7. Adam has been in a LOT of things! Check out not just ‘Firefly’ but the demon in Armani, Marcus Hamilton, in the final season of ‘Angel’ . Or the genetically engineered super soldier Knowle Rohrer in ‘X Files’ :-). For films, ‘Serenity’ of course. ‘Smoke Jumpers’ is good [Adam plays a wilderness Fire fighter]. If you can get it, try what should have won Adam at least an Oscar nomination; ‘Keyman: Finding Redemption’. Sadly this last movie wasn’t picked up for general release, which is a crying shame.

Mark Christopher Lawrence was in Terminator 2 😉

Jesse Heinman has been a background artist in EVERYTHING!
