Chuck Writers Sell Family Cop Show to FOX

Wow, Matt Miller is on fire! The former Chuck writer/executive producer has sold a family cop drama called Bad Guys to FOX, Deadline reports. This project is in addition to the pilot commitment from ABC for a crime drama named Forever as well as the CW sci-fi/adventure series The 100 that debuts midseason.

For Bad Guys, Miller teamed up with Zev Borow who wrote the Chuck comic and went on to write several episodes of the show. Borow will write Bad Guys while Miller serves as showrunner. The series “centers on Lea Morris, a NYPD detective and a single mom raising a teenage son, and her dad Nalin Morris, a recently paroled ex-con who wants a second chance with his daughter and a first with his grandson. Per the project’s logline, ‘Bad Guys affirms the ancient truth: You can’t pick your family, but with any luck you can arrest them.'”

While the FOX and ABC projects are still in development, I have seen the pilot for The 100 and was very impressed. I didn’t expect to like it at all, but it ended up being my second favorite new drama (behind S.H.I.E.L.D.), and I got to chat with Miller about it at Comic Con last month. That interview along with others with the cast of The 100 will be posted on Nice Girls TV closer to the series premiere (likely February 2014).
