Has anyone else been trying to figure out what “Phase Three” is since the title of this episode was announced? I’m still stumped, but we’ll finally find out tonight. Oh, and there’s the little matter of Sarah going rogue.
CHUCK’S SECRETS AND SANITY ARE THREATENED, LEADING SARAH TO SET OFF ON A ROGUE MISSION–RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN GUEST STARS–Chuck (Zachary Levi), Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Morgan (Joshua Gomez) venture into the jungles of Southeast Asia when The Belgian (guest star Richard Chamberlain) attempts to unravel the secrets of the Intersect. Everyone knows that Chuck will be saved and survived. Hope when Sarah save Chuck, Sarah will hug and kiss Chuck passionately. Season 4 seams lack of romance between this two lovebird. Would like to see more chemistry between this two lovebird.
Very revealling statement in the promo. That she doesn’t like herself as much without Chuck, coupled with her earlier confession to sleeping Chuck that she’d say yes if he were to ask her to marry him, gives a pretty clear idea as to where things are headed.
I couldn’t agree more, I loved Sarah’s comment that she was differnent without Chuck and she didn’t like it! This may be a rival for one of the best lines of this series.
Phase 3? Could this be a reference to the 3rd stage of the intersect? The Belgians playing around with Chucks head unlocks whatever MamaB did with her PSP gizmo.
I was thinking the same thing. IMHO MamaB upgraded the intersect to a more powerful one or something like that (“Your father thought you weren’t prepared”) and now it’s going to be activated ? maybe?
I also feel that it’s the third phase of the Intersect in Chuck’s head. I believe that whatever Orion hid under the seat in his Mustang is the key to repairing what happened to Chuck. We’ll see if Ellie and Awesome discover it and show it to Chuck.
Phase 3 is the most extreme method of the Belgium getting the intersect information out of Chuck’s head. It will remove all of Chuck’s memories and only leave the Intersect–Chuck will remember nothing else–he will basically be a vegetable with the Intersect being the only thing remaininig in his mind.

Phase three could refer to the third stage of torture the Belgian uses to try to extract the Intersect from Chuck. The showrunners sure have kept me guessing this season.
One has to ask, how to you get the data out of a person’s brain? It’s hard enough to believe you can look at subliminal images and download it. To be honest, it’s not the data in the images that is the important part of the Intersect. If we’re going to suspend disbelief, while the data may still have some value, the important part of the Intersect is the technology and/or process that stores the data in a person. You can’t have an Intersect agent without it regardless of the data.
Wouldn’t ‘Phase Three’ be a boxing reference?

is this the thanksgiving episode? i hope so..i cant wait for the classic arm-fold-lean-up-against-the-wall-looking-at-family-while-great-music-plays-in-background moment from chuck followed by sarah-look-back-completely-setting-the-mood-based-on-current-episode-situation moment, after of course the casey-walks-in-warmly-welcomed-yet-showing-slight-awkwardness-due-to-lack-of-own-family-even-after-giving-chuck-a-threatening-comment-which-actually-shows-he-cares moment….absolutely love it.
I love Chuck.
I think Chuck is captured through Thanksgiving. That’s why the next one is Chuck versus the Leftovers.
I as well think that has something to do with the intersect and what else is imbedded in Chucks mind.. I definetly think that the computer hidden under the seat of the mustang is a key element.. either an upgrade or it unlocks some more secrets..
I love the comment in the Promo with Sarah.. “Im different without Chuck… And I dont like it!!!!!” This really does show how much she loves him and needs him in her life and she is not going to let anything stand in her way for getting him back.

WOW!Talk about unleashing the Sarah! Tonight seems like it will be an amazing show. I love her line too, “I’m different with out Chuck, and I don’t like it!” I must say this is actually one episode where I wouldn’t mind additional spoilers but they only give 2. Go figure!
Hey.Maybe that the meaning of phase 3 is only the third phase of getting the intersect functionable again.I think that in last episode it was first pain then the fear of death but none helped .
I’m definitely thinking that Phase 3 has to do with the next dimension of the Intersect. It would be cool if Orion’s computer in the Mustang would contain the latest upgrade of his work on the Intersect. Unfortunately we haven’t heard much this season about Chuck being “special”. I’d like to see Chuck’s special brain play a part in his getting to the next level. Of course Ellie’s input as a neurologist would also be awesome.
My hope is that phase 3 is Chuck finding out he can be a “real spy” without the Intersect. What I liked about Seasons 1 and 2 is how Chuck used his own smarts to solve problems even though he was not a “real spy.” The pilot episode where Chuck used a porn site virus to disable a bomb is one of the best examples of this. You can actually see the admiration on Sarah’s face, which is great acting and also great foreshadowing of the next 3 seasons (* see aside below). Chuck has struggled with the “real spy” issue since the beginning of last season, so I think this would be great for this character’s development. I am not suggesting that he lose the Intersect, but just that he have this accomplishment could be a new phase of Chuck’s personal development and his relationship with Sarah.
* An aside: Every Chuckster should re-watch the pilot episode for all of the little pieces of dialogue that connect up the end of Season 2. Amazing how brilliantly it sets the stage for a 2-season-long story arc).
I thought that ‘Phase Three’ referred to the Intersect 3.0 but as most Chuck titles have a double meaning it could be something completely different.
For almost three years we’ve had to guess what Sarah was thinking or feeling but since “The Other Guy” she has made up for lost time and that one line in the promo speaks volumes about her feelings for Chuck.
Chuck knows that Sarah loves him but I don’t think he realises how much she needs him. Sarah needs to tell him how she really feels so it can lay to rest any remaining fears he has about losing her.
Some people thought that Chuck and Sarah together would equal the end of the show but nothing could be further from the truth. The stakes are higher now that they are together and they both stand to lose so much more if anything happens to either one of them which has given the show a boost of energy and excitement that we haven’t seen since season 2. Kudos to the new writers for managing to pull this off!
Some people thought that getting them together would equal the end of the show? More like the entire TV industry thought that. The industry has never realized that Chuck is unique in that way and now it’s being shown to them. The whole angst and tension idea is so overused in Hollywood that it’s quite ridiculous.

This is actually a double post by me (sorry in advance) wanted to post it again on the “day of” to get everyone’s thoughts and feelings. I personally found the 2nd promo very telling of what I think tonight episode will be….
So I just watched the new promo for the Chuck vs Phase Three…..and Wow. That short 16 seconds really gave me a different perspective on this episode. From the photo’s above and the end of episode 8/1st promo for episode 9 we see Sarah is clearly upset/angry and of course will fight for Chuck and do whatever it takes to find him. She absolutely loves Chuck and as we’ve seen in season 2 would quite literally kill for him. The question I ask myself.. is this behavior really out of the ordinary for Sarah? In Seasons 1/2 the “Claws†so to speak have come out before and she’s taken and dealt blows to a whole slew of baddies to protect her fella even if at the time they may not have been “together†she clearly had strong feelings for him and at the very least was her responsibility.
Now you may ask yourself “Ok Syris…what’s your point?†Well my point is that after seeing that 16 second promo I think something has changed. In that promo we really I think get a glimpse of just intense Rage/desperation. It’s not “You took Chuck, you’re going down†its “I’m going to rip your still beating heart out of your chest†The feeling I get is she is willing to do, if not “IS†going to burn every bridge she has to in order to get him back even with people she cares about. We see her literally walking away from a Imprisoned Casey with no remorse at all. I honestly get the sense that she would be willing to toss just about anyone under the bus to get back what she loves or perhaps a better term for it at this point is NEEDS. Now obviously we can’t be sure of all that’s happening here as its only a 16 second clip, but I think what she says speaks volumes. She claims she’s different without Chuck and she doesn’t like it. This to me is more than just a “Sarah loves Chuck†moment this feels like absolute desperation. Now please don’t misunderstand, I’m extremely excited for this episode, in no way am I saying this is a negative…far from it. I think we’ll see a LOT of raw emotion from Sarah which for many, myself included, is very welcomed. We’ve wanted to see her really explode with some uncensored feelings that she clearly has and has had difficulty expressing.
I just think the “Explosion of Emotion†that were hoping to see isn’t going to just be all love and happiness. I think we’ll see that ruthless side really come to light here and what’s more she knows it, dislikes it, but will none the less use that side of her personality to get Chuck back whatever the cost. It almost seems like Chuck is Sarah’s “governor†so to speak. Evens her out makes her feel whole. And to her even the slightest chance of losing that is more then she can possibly bare. To lie, cheat, steal, or kill anyone ANYWHERE would be a small price to pay in her eyes if it means she gets Chuck back
I think Phase 3 is a reference to the lobotomy from the promo. The previous 2 phases are likely less radical ie non-surgical methods to isolate and understand the Intersect.
Definitely looking forward to this episode after watching the sneak peak. I wasn’t as interested until I saw this. Probably one of the best sneak peaks of this season. Not too much, not too little and a perfect pick of scenes and intro theme.
This episodes has quickly replaced “Honeymooners” as my favorite Chuck episode of all time. That was an absolutely amazing performance by Yvonne Strahovski. From vicious ass-kickings to emotional lover. She ran the gamut tonight, and she nailed every one of them.
Man what a great episode!!! Sarah was all over everyone nothing was going to stop her from getting her man back. I’m really looking forward to next week. This is going to be the best season yet. I mean Chuck and Sarah married???? How awesome would that be. Next week baby, next week!!!!!! Thank you to all the people that make Chuck happen. You all rock. Oh and please come to Tx and do some kind of something. ROCK ON CHUCK!!!!!

Best episode yet in my book!! (in season 4) I absolutely loved it!!!! I’ve rated all the episodes this season on a 1-10 scale. This episode got a 10 (: only one yet! And I must admit…I cried
I’m with you! The BEST so far of Season 4 and definitely also one of the best of the series. And it looks like the next one could be even better. Can’t wait. BRING ON THE CHUCK!!
Great episode!!! Sarah was so cute and so thirsty for someones’ blood. I loved it. I am glad Chuck seems fine and I’m curious about Ellie’s and Awesome’s computer adventure. I am gonna watch it one more time tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving!
same … probably the best episode in the season .. I liked the 7 and 8 a lot. But this one def have the old magic on it. A mix of Awesome + Ellie … the Buy More crew showing why they still exist. Morgan being the clumsy guy but still being useful. It was perfect imo, all good elements of the show balanced together. The past few episodes were ranging on 8-9 … but this one is def 10 in my book.
Plus Sarah going berserk without him, and being true passionate and desperate in the end. I think it’s the 1st time she really cried, isn’t it ? Like dropped her guard completely. Because she always had some reservations on showing how she really felt … but this one i think was one of the very few occasions that she completely turned off the “spy” side (at the end when she’s crying for him to come back).
This is got to be one of my favorite episodes. We finally see how much Sarah needs/loves Chuck. =)
OK heres my theory.
The your father never wanted you too see this wqas a curve ball! So Volkoff wouldnt get suspicious of what was going on.
By all accounts i think that was an intersect crafted to import all the data from his dads records into Chucks Brain so that even thought its all been blown to Kingdom Come there he still has the lot in his head.
I reckon the device was a rudementary intersect that was only there as an emergency and thats why its caused complete flash freeze.
I do agree the PC in Ellys car will be the key to giving him some sort of reboot which will remove the mental block on the intresect, but as we have seen in the previous episode mental block is all that it is.
I really must say that I didn’t enjoy the last episode as much except the last few minutes which really built up the suspense and we seen real emotion from Sarah however this episode really did round it off. what a superb episode, the greatest of season 4 so far by a clear mile. We really get to see Sarah reveal her true feelings/emotions and the power which she portrays her love for chuck and how far she would go to protect and save her man was outstanding. Yvonne gets a clear 5 star award for this episode. and the last scene when Sarah rescues chuck is scene i think that could make many a chuck fan cry the moment we have all been waiting for. I also agree with the last CNN audio cast about the intersect going because of a technical glitch and I didn’t believe for a second this was down to Sarah blocking it out last episode with there relationship being the emotional rocket on the intersect. this episode just went to prove that it wasn’t Sarah nor Ellie blocking the intersect as when in hs dream when Sarah was about to leave him because he couldn’t flash that would have been the moment he would of forced himself to flash as he would do anything to keep Sarah and not loose her, so that proved it wasn’t Sarah and is maybe down to a firmware compatibility I suppose between intersect 2.0 and the upgrade from papa B PSP. Also is it me but the sound coming for papa Bs laptop at the end when Ellie logged in sounded like the intersect when chuck downloaded it in Season 1. Is Ellie about to get some sort of mini intersect with all of papa Bs research into ellie which she will have to work with chuck more and is she now about to find out about him being a spy again as he did disappear with no contact for over a week?
Don’t mind saying this one bit: GREATEST EPISODE EVER!!! Yvonne rocked in this one. The range of emotions she showed was out of this world.

I must also agree with the other about the last episode was complete awesome. Best episode of the season so far. an award should go to Yvonne as she was superb this episode, real true emotion, and the last scene mad eme cry just like the last scene of the chuck vs the fear of death. All these great charah moments are really effecting me 🙂 cant wait to see what is in store for the proposal. however what ever chuck does it cant possibly be more romantic than his original plan of on the beach at the end of the 1 episode of season 1 episode. next best place is in the buy more 🙂
I’m going to echo everyone else here, but WOW! That was an unbelievable episode! I’m still sitting here stunned. And not only did Yvonne KILL IT in this episode, but ALL of the actors were in TOP form. Every performance last night was perfect. LOVE. THIS. SHOW!
