PREVIEW: “Chuck vs. the Leftovers”

Are you still munching on Thanksgiving leftovers? The Bartowskis are, and everyone is invited to join them, even estranged mothers and evil Russians.

CHUCK FACES A HIGH-STAKES HOLIDAY WHEN UNEXPECTED GUESTS ARRIVE FOR A THANKSGIVING “LEFTOVERS” DINNER – MONET MAZUR, LINDA HAMILTON AND TIMOTHY DALTON GUEST STAR – It’s the day after Thanksgiving and Chuck (Zachary Levi) faces the most awkward of family reunions when mom (guest star Linda Hamilton) comes over for dinner—along with the dangerous Alexei Volkoff (guest star Timothy Dalton). Back at the Buy More, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) deals with the busiest shopping day of the year as Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) hatch their latest scheme. Yvonne Strahovski, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Adam Baldwin and Mark Christopher Lawrence also star.

Anticipation is high coming off last week’s incredible episode, and knowing that Zachary Levi directed this episode. “Chuck vs. the Leftovers” is our mid-season finale with the show going on hiatus for the holidays. (Don’t worry, it will be back in January with 14 episodes remaining for the season.) Prep for the mission by re-watching “Chuck vs. Phase Three“, taking a look at the promo stills for this episode, watching Mel & Liz bounce off the walls in the latest Chuck vs. the Podcast, and listening to the CNN crew also bounce off the walls in their review podcast. 1. Regarding the video…Wow…I think we can all agree that no one can do angry quite like Timothy Dalton! 😀

  2. I have nothing but questions after seeing the promo and peek.

  3. What’s the exact date in January when Chuck returns Mel? I’d like to mark it on my calendar.

  4. Dalton does do angry well–Sarah or Casey should just shoot him and get it over with–it would be great if Morgan shot him accidentally–I hope Chuck comes back sooner rather than later–Chuck fans have to be strong–they face new challenges every season. I think I will get my dvd’s out and start at the pilot–I can skip the episodes I did not like. I can also watch the two seasons of Life–really wish they would have had a third season. Got to keep the mind busy or the anticipation will drive me crazy. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and remembers what it is all really about. Will we get a post Christmas–Christmas Chuck?

  5. I have been wondering why Volkoff would be coming to dinner? For some reason I think it has something to do with the laptop myself. I guess from my perspective I am wondering how they find out that Chuck is still alive? finally I keep saying ever week that this is the best show ever and every week it keeps getting better (very disappointed that the ratings were not good for Three Phase because it truly was a good episode). This season has been one of the best seasons so far so I really hope we get picked up for a 5th season (which I think is in the bag due to it being required for syndication).

    • phase three was good I jus wish it had more humor in it

      • completly agree, I think that what is mainly missing this season, regardless all the great things it surely has, is Chuck´s (the serie) natural humour, like in Season 1 & 2. But anyway, hope you all enjoy the episode, coz I´ll have to wait to the next day to see it. Better late than never, isn´t it?

        Regards

  6. I cannot wait for this episode!!! So many questions and I hope it is just as amazing as last weeks (: (: <3 it better be or I will not survive until january 17!!!!

  7. Man what an episode!!! I seriously can not get enough of CHUCK. It sucks that we have to wait so long. Everyone did a great job, the season so far has been amazing. Glad to see that we have Mr. Charles Carmicheal. Thank you at all who make CHUCK happen. I love you all. And ROCK ON CHUCK!!!!

  8. This episode really was awesome. I want to know a few things.
    1. What was Chuck gonna say to Sarah when they were on the walk and he said “speaking of looking forward to the future…” in front of the ring shop. We all have our guesses but what?! He wouldn’t propose there…:/
    2. What happened to Alex?!? Her and Morgan seemed really close and now shes Gone! Haha I just can’t wait til we see her again.
    3. Will we see the big mike engagement? Or is it just gonna happen and we will hear about it!? Hmm…
I also have so guesses I think that Chuck and Sarah will get engaged soon! Like in Chuck vs the balcony. (Romeo an Juliet?!???)

    • about the proposal .. i was under the impression i’d be done by ep 13. I dont remember how far they were on filming the episodes when the season got the other 11, but considering that the “initial” idea was 13 ep only, i think this arc (the whole proposal thing) would be taken care of in case the series ended with only 13.

Given that she already made clear that she would accept, i think its only a matter of how he’s going to do it to somehow surprise her.

      • Yes I was thinking about that too. Like if this was the last season and they didn’t get a back 11 they would’ve given us a proposal. I think he should do it at the fountain. They have had so many moments there together. I think that’s a special place. Or at the buymore since they met there (:

  9. Timothy Dalton’s depiction of a villian is brilliant….he is one I wouldn’t mind seeing coming back over and over again. He is so unpredictable that he has the “best spy team in the world” on their heels. I love it.
Mama B and Volkoff owned this episode. Best line of the night had to be Volkoff’s “Kids love me”.

  10. Dear God I hope this isn’t the last season, but I checked how many people have been keeping up with the show and the numbers weren’t as big which is sad, it really is an underrated show. Maybe lobbying vehemently again might work.

  11. Was I the only one that wasn’t impressed with “Leftovers”? Yes, Dalton was nothing short of brilliant, but that was it. I thought that Volkoff already knew about Mamma B’s family, since “the First Fight”.
He knew Stephen Bartowski had been looking for Frost for years. He didn’t know why? Not very believable.

Anyway, for me, “Phase Three” was a far better ep. But I guess it would be hard to beat a Sarah-centric one :p

    • Volkoff did not know about Mary’s kids. In the episode “First Fight” Mary told Chuck (in the Castle’s interview room) that Tuttle does not know that she has a son….no one does…Mary’s words. So Tuttle, aka Volkoff, only knew Chuck as Charles Carmichael.

  12. I’m glad about one thing even though Papa B is dead he’s looking out for his family even from beyond the grave and has all the bases covered. I miss Stephen J. Bartowski so much I wish he was still alive. 🙁

  13. I think that what frost did to chuck was an upgrade… based on ellies brain overload problem solved. Some would say that it will eliminate the govenor, but I think Papa B found a way to make the intersect better but it kept overloading the person it was administered to. Maybe this means that chuck will be able to accept and retain the intersect knowledge easier. Kinda like an intersect turbo boost with maybe a few more flashes about himself….
-As far as Papa B goes…. Orion in the mythology didn’t die completely… after resurection he was place in the stars by Zeus(hopefully no one we see). I think his only link to the real world now through that laptop. Ellie said she did nothing to the laptop but after she figured her problem out, the laptop just asked for Chucks password.
    -Just predictions…
