  1. Awwww you grouches. I’m with Joe. Join us! It’s so much brighter on this side. 🙂

  2. I have listened to all of your CNN Netcasts and every time I hope that Joe finally gets a new Mic. Joe has some good comments but it’s hard to listen too when the beginning of almost every word is missing. VOX mode is not the way to go. Do you all ever listen to the end product. JOE PLEASE GET A NEW MIC! Oh and Chuck Vs Agent-X was SUPER!

    • It’s not Joe’s mic that’s the problem, Geeker. It’s his operating system and compatibility issues. Every week he works on trying to make it sound better, but this week it was particularly difficult.

  3. Firstly let me say that I love listening to your podcast but I was surprised and a bit annoyed that you say that this story has devalued Steven Bartowskis character and imply that he is better than Chuck is and I would like to counterpoint that and also find out in more detail why you think he is so great and why he is devalued.
We know very little about Steven/Orion. We know he was not a great dad when Mary left, we know that while he did not invent the intersect he did the ‘cool stuff’ and that when he found out what the government wanted to do with the intersect he ran and left his Children. He deleted himself from the government database and then went on some crusade to bring people to justice that the govt were afraid to touch, but that it was all about finding Mary. We aslo know he allowed himself to be found by Sarah in broken heart, and then at the end of vs subway convinces Chuck that the way to keep Sarah safe is to leave her. This fact aslone to me makes Chuck a better person than Steven as he does change his mind when he realises that Sarah is in trouble and in this season when he admits that the whole team is crucial to the success of the intersect, he needs team B, That is further underlined as Mary could not take Volkoff on her own but needed help from Sarah and Chuck.
When we see the boxes in the orion cave in Ring pt2 we see close ups of 6 boxes but only one says captured so although we believe he is a super spy if only one is captured what has happened to the rest? he does not come across as a cold killer and he was we believe on his own so how would he have got any of them captured/arrested.
To me this current storyline does not diminish him as it was clear from his actions of leaving Chuck and Ellie that he was not running from the bad guys as I am sure that the CIA could have done something like witness protection, so he was hiding from the govt or maybe from people within the govt. When Chuck meets Orion in R.I. Orion says the he once he found out what the government wanted to do with the intersect he new he had to leave Chuck and Ellie if you change that to he found out what they had done with the intersect it makes his decision to run more believable and also Caseys reaction in this episode of not telling anyone what they know better.
Another copmplaint of some of you was Chucks reveal to Ellie to me the idea that Elle did work it out eventually was well played as she is intelligent and when she was pointed in the right direction she worked it out. Lou coments that how could she not know i say to that a) they dont live together anymore, b) she has her own family c) she is a Doctor and before having Clara she was busy at work.
I think it is also true to say that if even a spouse can have a secret such as an affair why should she have thought about it. I liked that they had her work out the Spy thing but that they had him show her the intersect in action to show her the why.
I look forward to hearing your opinions on the last episodes of the season, if we do get a season 5 I will miss you during the break If we dont well i will just have to listen again to your existing ones. As you only podcasted in S4 it is such a shame that you did not podcast for the earlier seasons.

  4. I really enjoyed this episode, and I thought the whole was equal or greater than the sum of the parts. At least everyone agreed that Casey’s scenes with Mrs. Winterbottom were great.

I don’t see the problem with the “retcon” (I can recognize a show adding to backstory, just hadn’t heard the term before). This makes (slightly) more sense than Mary Bartowski sticking with Volkoff all these years to bring down his organization, that prior explanation made her look completely incompetent. At least here, it makes it look like she was sticking with this guy because he was a friend of her husband. We’ll see if any of this is addressed in the last two episodes of the season.

Finally, I was perplexed by comments from the group stating that Shaw was driven insane from the intersect. Shaw was always obsessed with his wife’s death, and how can you forget the loud, melodramatic, Nooooooo!!! when he saw the video? I interpreted that moment as driving him over the edge. He “intersected” after that. While I’m sure the intersect didn’t help his sanity, it was never implied (at least by my interpretation ) that he became insane because of it.
