Finally, some NBC renewal/pick up scoop! Variety is reporting that their sources say Chuck “is likely to return for at least 13 episodes.” Remember that Chuck has always started the season with a 13-episode order, then had it lengthened (except for season 1 when the writers’ strike prevented extra episodes). For the uninitiated, Variety is a well-respected industry magazine. Things could change between now and Sunday when NBC officially announces their schedule, but this is a hugely positive indication of Chuck‘s future.
UPDATED 5:45PM: Ausiello is now reporting that his sources confirm a fifth season as well. NBC has declined to comment as the deal has not yet been signed.
Updated 5:47PM: Deadline is also reporting the pickup.
Updated 5:50PM: Three reliable sources saying the same thing is enough to move this from “fingers crossed” to the “semi-official” category and give it the lead news spot. Expect something official from NBC soon.

i have to say this, the last episode of CHUCK is the best episode of all season, i cant tell you how much i loved that episode, here hoping for a 5 season

That’s a great sign – fingers crossed! At least we’ll know whether or not we will have a Season 5 when we get to see the season finale on Monday. Not sure if I can wait that long!!

I have to say that is probably some of the best news I have ever heard. If it was one source you could understandably be slightly sceptical but now having three incl Variety I would say that the odds that this is true are quite good. Wont jump for joy till official however.
I am really hoping that this happens. But I wold also hope that NBC give them more than 13 episodes.
Firstly so that they can write a full season again like seasons 1 & 2, not plan a season and then extend it if you know what I mean.
But also to enable them to reach the 100 episode milestone within the series which would be a great for them i’m sure.

Oh I so hope this is true! Will not tell my lil sis and Dad until it is confirmed, though – don’t wanna disappoint them if for some reason the sources were wrong. It will be so nice to have Chuck for my first year at college! It’ll give me an excuse to workout too because my college’s workout equipment has TVs on them! Let’s go CHUCK!

Hopefully NBC will go for 22 episodes in order to leave the scriptwriters do its very best .One of the reasons that season 4 didn’t go quite well was due to the fact that the renewal after the 13th episode came quite late to develop the scripts quite thoroughly.Chuck has potential for season 6!!!

Hooray! What a relief. I wasn’t looking forward to watching the Season Finale with a lump in my throat…..of course, I’ll probably have that anyway given what just happened to Sarah, at least until she gets out of the hospital. A “New Hope” for Season 5…That’s the best news I’ve heard all week. 🙂
This is great. I hope it gets a full season and none of that ordering more episodes. It really screws up the writer’s plot when they have to come up with something new after they initial had a ending.

Congratulations to all of us that helped in the annjual renewal battle. Now we have to started rebuilding the audience. I’m extrememly pumped about this! And proud! We have the best fanbase ever, and don’t think NBC doesn’t know this. We could have probably saved STAR TREK!

Good news tonight.
I think with what happen on last nights episode that chuck needs to start taking the danger seriously and that chuck needs to develop a dark side. He need to kill the person who tried to kill Sarah last night. This is what a real spy would do.
Chuck doesn’t kill people. The real spys that kill people are Cole Barker, Bryce Larkin, the A-Team’s Vik and Rick.
Chuck is chuck. And that’s what makes the intersect work.
Chuck needs to save vivian, that’s what a hero like Chuck does.
If this happens, I can safely say that I have NEVER seen a show cheat death this many times in a row. If that doesn’t qualify “Chuck” as being indredibly special, I have no idea what does. In fact, TVGuide.com said just yesterday that the ratings for Monday made the outlook extremely bleak. Just . . . wow.
My recommendation for the team? Go into this (potential) season 5 as your last and don’t push your luck unless the ratings pickup. I mean, even more than they usually do. I dearly love our show, but I think they’d be much better off taking this gift and running with it.
I’m with ya. I think #5 will likely be it – so I think they’re going to pull out ALL the stops! Whatever happens, it will have been an AWESOME ride – and a complete “handful” of CHUCK DVDs and Blu Ray sets on my shelf will be just fine and dandy!! Will match my 5 seasons of ALIAS and almost match my 6 seasons of LOST!!!

I rewatched Last Details on Space Channel tonight here in Canada, finally get around to checking for Chuck news and wow this great news just jumps out at me.
I will still feel a little uneasy until the official announcement, but all I can say is this is incredible news.

Agreed! As much as I love Morgan, it just never felt the same as when Big Mike was running the place. We need to get that lost feeling back in these critical areas again because the test run with the CIA More, Morgan being in-charge, and Jeffster seeming more scripted than random felt odd. Not to mention you NEVER see Chuck doing his normal Buy More job anymore as mentioned. I’m not a huge fan with him being all gung-ho CIA, as Sarah would have said in Season 1-3, “That’s just not you Chuck and why I liked you!”

This is great news and a semi-wonderful day. The news isnt yet official but I’ll take anything @ this point. This is always a trial waiting but at least we have some news now. Hopefully, NBC will go ahead and make the most loyal fans on the planet happy without making us wait any further. Chuck is my all-time favorite and I would like to see it end the right way. No cliffhangers, just closure
