Now that NBC has officially announced the premiere of Chuck season 5 on October 21, Warner Bros. has bumped the season 4 DVD and Blu-ray release back from September 6 to October 11.
Why do they insist on releasing the DVD so close to the season premiere? Economics. It allows them to promote both the previous season on DVD and the new season on NBC at the same time, giving them more bang for the advertising buck. Sucks when you’re the one waiting on the DVD release, though.
The new season starts on Fri, October 21st! The season 4 dvd release was pushed back to Tues, October 10th!

Do you not mean October 21 not 25. That’s a Tuesday not Friday premier date That’s only a week difference and as usual doesn’t promote it much in advance

Where are you guys seeing October 25? I’m confused.
I cancelled my season 4 pre-order when I got the news from Amazon this morning. Unfortunately I didn’t see the need to have my gift card tied up in something that I won’t see until October.
Releasing the DVD so late just gives people more the reason to pirate it. -_-
It’s on my birthday! Thanks NBC! Last year they gave me a new episode of Chuck for my birthday, and that was one of my favorite gifts that year, next to the Styx tickets. Ironic, right?
Oh come on. Me and my friend want to watch Season 4 SO badly on dvd, why do people like us have to wait a whole extra month?
By releasing it in early September, I have something to watch in the two-three weeks before my prime-time faves hit the air. But by releasing it after “Castle” “Community” “Psych” etc etc etc are in full swing, I wonder where I’ll find the time to watch old “Chuck” episodes. A major cluster-snuggle on the part of WB.
Ok I have a question… if Chuck gets very low ratings on friday nights this season… could NBC cancel the show even before the season is up?
