T3 Convention Report – Mark Christopher Lawrence, Ryan McPartlin, Julia Ling

Back in June, Chuck fans in the UK had the opportunity to see Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence and Julia Ling at the Starfury T3 convention in England. Photos are available here and here. Frequent commenter and forum participant Wienergirl attended and has kindly written up her notes for us to post.

The convention was held in the upmarket Radisson Edwardian Heathrow Hotel. Many people refer to it as ‘the hotel with the Mezzanine floor, bridges and plastic fish’! After Registration and buying photo ops, there was a special Meet and Greet on Friday evening for those who’d bought Gold tickets.  This was held in the glass-ceiling Atrium, which used to house the hotel swimming pool. It still has a waterfall and several floor levels. The guests were brought to separate tables one at a time. I’m pretty certain we got Ryan first. My friend Lyn has a shoulder bag with pictures of Adam on the outside and Ryan spotted it. He insisted in having his picture taken on his own cell phone whilst holding said bag! He referred to himself as ‘the poor man’s Adam Baldwin’! I think this name may have stuck!

When Julia came to our table, we suggesting to her that Anna Wu could come back to Chuck as a trained CIA operative after her cage fight episode. That’s her hope as well! I had a packet of individual spotted dick puddings [not nearly as rude as it sounds] which caused some hilarity, with all the guests! We asked Mark if he was going to give us some stand up, but he said he’d like to come back and do a special tour of that. He and Ryan escaped for a while during the convention and went to Buckingham palace. Mark would like one of the guards’ bearskin hats, please!

On the Saturday, during her panel, Julia shared a lot of the terrible privations her grandparents and parents had been through and how she sees part of her role as giving something back. It was incredibly moving. She’d brought her mother with her as a treat. She also did a very brief demo of the sort of moves she’d learned for the cage fight.

Mark stated that he was happy to stay in the background at the Buy More because the last black person who found out about the spy life died.

Ryan naturally joked about having to be shirtless almost all the time, then on the Sunday he filmed us all singing Happy Birthday for his son and another lad who were both two on the same day.

There was a Masquerade on the Saturday. Lyn and I were wearing green Christmas outfits copied from ‘Chuck vs Santa Claus’, complete with Nerf gun and water blaster! There were surprisingly very few entries into the competition, but we were all called up to the front and later each received a poster signed by the guests as a gift.

The weekend seemed to go by very fast; we’re certainly looking forward to next year’s convention with Adam, Scott, Vik and Melinda!

Thanks, Weinergirl!

“Poor man’s Adam Baldwin”. Too funny.

  2. Hi All:

Is Julia coming back for the last season? She seems to be at a lot of these events representing Chuck.
