Friday Five: Things To Do With (Almost) $1 Billion

At the end of season 4, Volkoff left Chuck and Sarah the bulk of his fortune, almost $900 million. They decided to start a private espionage firm, only taking on worthy cases, of course. But what if they’d opted for a different path? Herewith are some ideas for what to do with a cool (almost) $1 billion.

  1. Mission to the Moon – Isn’t that every nerd/geek’s dream? Or am I projecting? I’ll bet Volkoff Industries has some applicable technology for a flight to the moon, too, so it could be a tax write-off. Win-win.
  2. Fund Firefly Season 2  – Surely Nathan Fillion could spend a hiatus from Castle filming 13 new episodes of the fan favorite. And there would be plenty left over for a Veronica Mars movie and a Chuck feature film (or is that too meta?).
  3. Regenerate the Wooly Mammoth – Researchers estimate it would cost about $10 million to regenerate (a fancy way of saying “clone”) a wooly mammoth from existing DNA. Chump change.
  4. Retire to a Private Island – And build a castle on it. And a roller coaster. But how long until they get restless in retirement? I give ’em 6 months.
  5. Feed Africa – I could totally see the Bartowskis donating their fortune to help the poor, although using the funds to take down corrupt governments and help build sustainable resources is more their style.

Got any other ideas for the Bartowskis and their fortune? Trying to wrap your mind around that amount of money? Google “spend a billion dollars” and look at the lists that pop up. Maybe they’re better off going into the private espionage game after all.

  1. Buy NBC and produce another season!! *muwahaha..

  2. Buy a TV network. Then “Chuck” would never face cancellation.

  3. Donate to BRSFA and have them return for S5.

(Better Roles for Sheep Fund of America.)

  4. build a better intersect!!

  5. $1 billion is not enough money to go to the moon. What I haven’t figured out for sure is if they bought the entire Buy More corporation or just the Burbank fanchise.

  6. What only one Chuck movie. No reason why Chuck cant keep going like the James Bond franchise. Of course once the first one is made they can use the profits to film the rest of them.

  7. BTW I was just looking at your Chuck countdown clock and I think you need to reset it. Here it is friday at a little after 5 pm and it is telling me its 62 days 11 hours and 47 minites to go. Or is Chuck returning at 4AM on a Saturday?

  8. If I had a billion dollars, I’d eat Kraft dinner with very expensive Dijon ketchup 😉

  9. I absolutely love #2! I laughed outloud when I read it. Had no idea you were a browncoat, Mel. Wouldn’t it be cool if Nathat did a guest turn on ‘Chuck’ and Zac did a guest spot on ‘Castle’ this year?

  10. Use it to ensure a hundred more seasons for Chuck!

  11. a Chuck movie would be really great! all the Casey-Sarah-Chuck kick-ass goodness on the big screen…WOW!

  12. Unleash Yhe Casey

Buy Casey a newer Crown Vic

  13. i completely agree with no 2 I love all those shows, here’s a story i want to see this season if you remember stanley fritzroy from tic tac i think a good ep would be one in which stanley being chucks biggest fan uses the mission reports he collated to write a chuck comic book .morgan could be the one to discover the comic called agent carmicheal 101010101 resulting in chuck sarah morgan and casey going to comic con

With s billion dollars chuck and sarah might have enough money to either use jeffs psychic abilities or indeed fix him because the therapy required to make jeff functional again would be worth about 1 billion dollars.
