The Future of ChuckTV.net and Where To Find Mel & Liz (& Gray )

Now that we’ve had several days to discuss, debate, and process Chuck‘s swan song, we thought it would be a good time to address a couple of questions we’ve been receiving from y’all. Namely, what will happen to ChuckTV.net now that the show is over, and whether we have any other sites you can follow.

ChuckTV.net

Don’t freak out, ChuckTV.net isn’t going anywhere. We have accumulated an immense archive of information about Chuck since launching nearly five years ago, and we intend to continue to make that content available to fans old and new for the foreseeable future. In addition, we’ve become known as a gathering place for Chuck fans and a hub of fan activity over the years, two very special purposes we wish to continue.

So what will we talk about? We have a few more Chuck items to post  (Fan Survey, a couple of podcasts, bracket tournaments, etc.) as we wrap up our coverage of the TV series, and of course there will be news about the DVDs, syndication, and that rumored movie. In addition, as the cast and crew move on to new projects, we’ll be here to spread the word so you know where to see them next.

Where to Find Mel & Liz (& Gray)

ChuckTV.net may have been one of our first fansites, but it wasn’t our last! Liz and Mel own a few other sites covering TV plus a new resource site for fansite owners. Here’s where to find us:

  • True-Blood.net: The original fansite for HBO’s True Blood, we launched this in March 2008, and it has since grown to host around 450,000 fans each month when the series is on the air. Through this site, we’ve been featured in national magazines, TV shows, and even helped one actor land a regular role on the series! You can expect to find similar coverage there, including interviews, spoilers, news, reviews, and a weekly video podcast (yes, even during hiatus).
  • OnceUponAFansite.com: Our newest fansite, this covers ABC’s new series Once Upon a Time. We’re still getting things going over there after putting it on hold to focus our time and energy covering Chuck‘s final season, but you can expect the same level of coverage for that show as you see here.
  • YvonneStrahovski.net: Our fansite for Yvonne has been around since September 2007. As her post-Chuck career takes off, that site should be busy busy busy!
  • NiceGirlsTV.com: This site covers TV shows that feature strong female characters and/or women behind the camera. Launched in July 2008, we currently have 12 women writing for us, including some names that should be familiar to Chuck fans: JanW/Happydayz, Frea, Cay, and Karen/Aleveria.
  • BuildABetterFansite.com: Another idea with a long gestation period, we finally launched this site last month with a goal of helping fansite owners succeed by sharing what’s worked for us over the years and, probably more importantly, what hasn’t! From choosing the subject of your fansite to landing a celebrity interview to drawing traffic, we plan to spill the beans.
  • Twitter: Mel will continue to maintain the @ChuckTVDotNet handle while Liz Tweets @PrlsOfLizdom.

Gray plans to keep the Chuck vs. the Podcast site up for at least another 3 years, but you can also find him online at the following locations:

  • TV Writer Podcast: Go behind the scenes of your favorite shows, past and present, as Gray interviews TV writers in his popular series. He also maintains a database of writers on Twitter in case you want to applaud them in 140 characters or less.
  • Facebook: Keep up with Gray on Facebook. (Add a note to let Gray know how you found him.)
  • IMDb: Watch Gray’s IMDb page for updates on his professional life.
  • Twitter: And as always, you can catch him on Twitter @GrayJones.

  2. Mel- wow you guys are really busy. Which probably makes this question answer itself. But I will ask anyway. I would assume that over the span of ChuckTV.net you have a few fans who have been with you contributing their feedback from the beginning. Have you ever thought about rewarding them with some kind of recognition for their loyalty?

    • That’s what the giveaways are for, to share the goodies we’ve been given with fans of this site.

You know, I did a quick calculation of the amount of time I’ve spent managing this site since it went live, and the conservative estimate is 3,000 hours, not counting going to Comic Con the last 4 years. Crazy!

  3. Thank you for all your hard work. For four years I never missed a Monday night
with Chuck. Once moved to Fridays it was harder to make it. I will own all 5 years of Chuck when the 5th year comes out. Keep up the great work.

  7. Hello Mel, Liz and Gray!

I have been a regular fan since I caught up with “Chuck” a little over a year ago. Although I have not been a “been there from the beginning” fan I had always maintained an interest and a hope that I could catch up with the series, and I’m not only glad I got to be a part of the enthusiasm that brought “Chuck” back for it’s 5th season, I’m also especially glad I discovered this website to catch me up and then keep me informed on all things “Chuck.”

This truly has been the most community-driven series I’ve ever had the fortune to experience, and I too, especially want to send my personal regards to the three of you for taking the lead in this endeavor.

    Thank you! 🙂
