Chris Fedak Gets Magical with ABC

‘Tis the season for announcing new projects! ABC announced that they’ve greenlit a pilot for Deception, a drama written by Chris Fedak that combines magic and the FBI.

According to the official synopsis, Deception follows a superstar magician whose career is plagued by scandal. In an effort to keep practicing the arts of deception, illusion and influence, he teams with the FBI to become the world’s first consulting illusionist.

“Consulting illusionist” – that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Chris will serve as executive producer/showrunner along with Greg Berlanti (the man behind DC’s TV shows and about a million other projects) and Blindspot creator Martin Gero. Magician David Kwong, who has worked as a creative consultant on Blindspot and the feature film Now You See Me, will serve as a co-producer.

Deception will likely be ready for pilot season next spring and possibly be on ABC’s 2017-2018 schedule. Chris is currently sharing showrunner duties on the CW’s Legends of Tomorrow with fellow Chuckster Phil Klemmer.

  1. I quite liked Forever, starring Ioan Gruffudd, in which Chris Fedak had a role (executive producer and writer). I’m sorry that it was canceled. I hope that Deception is equally good and this time also manages to survive more than one season.
